Chapter 31 Nathan Kissed Her
The sortie was sweet and intimate
Rebecca instinctively looked away and turned Marcus’s face aside.
Not something he should be watching
Nathan hadn’t expected Jocelyn to suddenly get close. His brows pinched slightly, and he turned his face.
The kiss landed on his cheek, and the resistance in his expression was obvious.
But Jocelyn couldn’t stand the way Nathan treated Rebecca differently. She wanted to show off–he was her man.
With a beautiful smile and a gentle voice, she said, “He safe out there. Come back early tonight.
Then she let go.
Nathan’s face was dark and unreadable. He had warned Jocelyn before–not to get close unless it was absolutely necessary for public appearances. How could he not see through her intentions?
Without another word, he turned coldly and walked out of the villa.
Jocelyn watched him leave with a smile. After he disappeared, she turned to Rebecca, eyes full of hatred.
“Marcus, eat by yourself. Rebecca, come to my room.
Rebecca knew she was about to explode. Bracing herself, she stood up and followed.
The door slanamed shut. A second later–smack–a crisp slap landed hard and fast, completely without mercy.
Rebecca wasn’t surprised. She held her face, saying nothing.
Jocelyn shouted, “Didn’t you swear you’d never show up in front of Nathan again? And what now? You sneak into the villa behind my back, cozy up to the kid–what
you a special thrill? You’re disguding, Rel, Ae are you capable of? So Is Nathan’s bed soft? Does someone else’s man give
I really underestimated you.”
Every word was sharp, full of ridicule, laced with hysterical hatred.
Rebecca never expected her once–gentle sister to say such things. Her face was calm, her eyes staring straight at her
“Are you done hitting me? Done yelling? Then it’s my turn. First, I didn’t touch your man. The man you’re obsessed with–I don’t even like him. Second, sneaking into the villa? Maybe ask yourself why I was even there. If you’d taken proper care of Marcus, would I have had the chance? Third, the way Marcus is now–you really think you bear no responsibility?
Jocelyn froze
Of course she bore responsibility. These past years, not only had she failed to care for Marcus, but every time she looked at his face, she’d be reminded of that night between Rebecca and Nathan And so, when it came to the child….
Rebecca didn’t know what Jocelyn had done to Marcus. All she knew was that the way he’d turned out–his mother was definitely to blame.
She said. “Look. If you don’t like him, if you can’t take care of him, if you don’t want me here–then give him back to me. Ell
him and leave. You’ll never see me agam.”
Jocelyn smapped out of it, furious. “Don’t even think about it! He’s my child! He’s a Zimmerman! No way I’m handing him over to you”
Rebecca laughed. “Fine. If you want to keep the kid to hold onto your place as Mrs. Zimmerman, then let me stay and take care of him. When he’s healthy agam, I’ll leave. Until then, we stay out of each other’s way. And don’t ever lay a hand on me avain Otherwise I won’t mind telling people the child bo’t yours”

Jocelyn stood in place, fuming.
That damn Rebecca–she dared threaten her?
Since she wanted stay? Fine. She’ll give her that chance. Let’s see if she has the nerve to stick around.
Jocelyn pulled out her phone and made a call.
Tell Greg to come to Sena International tomorrow. What? Greg got arrested? Fine. I’ll handle it.”

She hung up and called her secretary. “Get someone to get Greg out. Tell him Rebecca ruined his family. He sl revenge. She’s at Building 99, Sena International”

Back in her room. Rebecca sat in front of the vanity, staring at her swollen cheek.
Is everyone around here toxic? All they know is slapping people. If you’re that tough, go slap a cactus.”
She didn’t want Marcus to see her like this, so she stayed in her room until nightfall. Then she snuck into the medical room to look for anti–inflammatories.
The room was big, with endless supplies.
It took her a full half hour to find one tube. She opened it and was about to apply it when a tall figure suddenly entered her
Clack–the medicine fell to the floor. She nearly had a heart attack.
“Mr… Nathan? When did you get back?”
Nathan glanced at her, his eyes falling on her clearly swollen face. He didn’t answer. Instead, he frowned. “Wasn’t the swelling gone this afternoon?”
Uh… all thanks to your lovely future wife. Now it was even worse.
Rebecca gave a nervous laugh. “It’s nothing. Maybe it came back. I’ll just go apply this in my room.”
She bent down to pick up the tube and turned to leave. If Jocelyn saw her with him again, her face might not survive.
“Lac down on the bed”
That cold voice rang out
Rebecca fruze Lie on the bed That sounded seriously misleading
“Um
“Don’t make the say
Nathan’s tone was cold and commanding
Rebecca didn’i dare argue. She walked over and lay down.
Nathan entered the room, took out a tube of prescription–grade ointment, put on gloves, and came to the bed.
She’d picked the wrong medicine?
Rebecca was surprised Before she could react, he squeezed some onto his fingertip and gently applied it to her face. The cool touch hat her skin, followed by a sharp sting She let out a soft sound of pain.
Nahin immediately holitened his touch. “Hans in there Calch develoted this himself. The swelling will be rone late

Thump, thump, thump–Rebecca’s heart suddenly started racing, like it was about to burst out of her chest. Her breathing turned unsteady.
Her long lashes fluttered. Her face grew hot.
Nathan saw the confusion in her wide eyes, her small lips pressed tightly together like cherry blossoms, and he had the sudden urge to kiss her….
Rebecca felt like she was going to drown in those deep, dark eyes. Damn it–wasn’t her face already in enough pain?
She quickly looked away, pushed him aside, and sat up. “My dearest brother–in–law, thank you.”
Brother–in–lawt
Nathan’s face darkened. His voice sharpened. “What did you just call me?”
There was an invisible pressure in the air.
Rebecca wanted distance. That term was the perfect reminder. “Brother–in–law. Isn’t that what you are?”
Nathan stared at her like a predator eyeing its prey. “I haven’t married your sister.”
What? Not married?
Impossible. Her sister had shown up with Marcus back then–they must’ve gotten married. The kid was three now, and they
weren’t married?
No–it didn’t matter whether they were married or not. That had nothing to do with her. Why was she even shocked?
Rebecca quickly pushed the thought down. “It’s only a matter of time. Whether I say it now or later, it’s the same. I’m heading
back
Damn it. Did she not understand plain speech?
Nathan suddenly felt an unexplainable surge of frustration. He reached out, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into his arms
Then he lowered his head and forcefully kissed her.
