Chapter 41 That Night’s Feeling.
Faced with the same question again, Nathan found he couldn’t say no.
Forget it. If he had time, making a quick stop wouldn’t take much effort. “Which school?
“Colors Kindergarten, Emma answered crisply, grinning from ear to ear.
Beside them. Marcus was puzzled.
Daddy actually hugged Emma and agreed to pick her up? Was there something wrong with the air in this neighborhood tonight? Had Daddy been possessed?
“Buddy, don’t worry. I won’t steal your future daddy’s love. I only want a little bit. I really like you too. The little girl’s sweet voice rang out
Marcus looked up and saw her leaning against Daddy’s shoulder, soft and cute. At that moment, he felt like not only would he not mind her stealing his dad’s affection–he’d be willing to give her his own love too.
“You got candy stuck in your hair. Why are you so careless?”
Emma picked it out, gave an “oh, tossed it in the nearby trash, then opened her little backpack and pulled out two new pieces. “Hey, one for me, one for you.”
Marcus didn’t like sweets, but since the little girl gave it to him, he didn’t dislike it either. He lifted his hand and took it.
Just then, Emina’s kiddie smartwatch rang with a call.
“Ah, my stepmom’s calling. I have to go home now. Future daddy, buddy–I’ll miss you guys! You have to come pick me up at kindergarten, okay? Emma said, then gave Nathan a loud smooch on the face before sliding down from his arms and skipping away, turning to wave every few steps.
Nathan was speechless.
He just got kissed by a little girl?
The corner of his lips durved helplessly, even carrying a trace of indulgence.
Marcus stared in the direction Emma ran off to, his dark eyes thoughtful. Once they were in the car, he pulled out his phone and typed in a series of codes.
Soon, the data popped up. ‘Emma, female, 2 years old. Household registration: Slyvanville Talented in singing and dancing Lively and cute Single–parent family”
Nathan saw Marcus buried in lus screen and guessed what he was doing–probably poking around in his code again. He reached out and took the phone. “Let me see.”
Sure enough, the screen showed the little girl’s file
Emma? So her name was Emmat That name sounded oddly like something Rebecca would come up with
His long, narrow cyrs narrowed in a flash. He finally realized where that strange sense of familiarity had come from. That little girl’s eyes looked a lot like Rebecca’s. Her facial features too. What was their relationship?
He continued reading, and the more he saw, the darker his gaze grew
Outside the apartment
Natasha saw Emma running over and let out a sigh of relief. “You little princess, where did you go? You scared me to death” Emina’s innocent, sweet voice answered. “I ran mo future daddy at the elevator and made sure he’d remember me

Emma nodded happily. “Yup! I said hi and asked for a hug. He said he likes me. Mommy, don’t worry–I won’t be a burden to your relationship. You have to keep going! Chase him! Win him over soon!”
Rebecca was speechless. Wasn’t this digging her own grave? If she hadn’t let Emma go along with that “future daddy” stuff. Emma wouldn’t have run over today to get his attention.
What now… H Nathan found out about Emma’s identity
Natasha saw the worry in Rebecca’s eyes and quickly sent Emma back inside, then whispered to her. “Don’t worry. Did you forget we faked Emma’s records?”
Oh–right!
Back then, afraid her sister and Nathan would investigate and find out the truth, she had specifically listed Emma as one year younger and registered her under her foster brother’s ID. Even if they found out about Emma, they would assume she was her brother’s daughter and unrelated to her.
Rebecca let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you for reminding me. I got so flustered I forgot everything.”
Natasha slung an arm around her shoulder, raising an eyebrow. “So now, are you gonna tell me why Nathan came to your place? You two didn’t…?”
Her words trailed off. full of suggestive meaning.
Rebecca immediately thought of that moment and blushed. “What nonsense are you talking about? Marcus hadn’t seen me in seven days, he was worried, so he asked Nathan to bring him over. Nothing happened between us. And nothing could happen.
Natasha smirked and pinched her cheek. “Oh? You’re blushing and still saying nothing happened? Who are you trying to fool! Don’t worry, we’re all adults here. I get it. Just tell me how was Nathan’s strength? What did it feel like?
“Go, go, go! I don’t know you, you filthy woman!” Rebecca shoved her away and ran into the kitchen to continue making
desserts.
But in her head… she couldn’t stop thinking about that night four years ago. His strength–was immense. As for what it felt like.
It hurt like hell! What kind of feeling do you think!
Morning
After dropping Emma off at school, Rebecca immediately headed to Sena International.
Since she was late today, she didn’t plan to make breakfast. She brought sweets and bread instead. But as soon as she stepped into the villa, she saw Jocelyn in the open kitchen, already preparing breakfast
She had forgotten–jocelyn had also moved into the villa, and there was someone else now to cook for Marcus
“Good morning
Hearing her voice, Jocelyn turned her head When she saw Rebecca–who had disappeared for days–show up again, her tace instantly darkened. “You really haunt like a ghost. You just hate to show up in front of Nathan and Marcus?”
Rebecca pressed her lips together. “No Once Marcus’s condition improves, I’ll leave
Jocelyn louked like she’d heard the world’s funniest joke. She walked over step by step, and with each step, asked.
“You disappeared for seven days. Did Marcus stop living because of you? You sure you’re staying for Marcus? You are say you’ve never had a single thought about Nathan?”
Each word was sharp. Durext,
