Chapter 46 Can’t Bear to See Him Go?
Slip!
“Ah!” Mike suddenly lost his footing and fell flat on his back.

The w
way down, his flailing hand knocked into two baskets of freshly sun–dried mung beans and red beans. Clatter! The contents spilled across the ground–green and red scattered everywhere. His butt took the brunt of it and hurt like hell.
“Mr. Mike! Are you alright?” Rebecca rushed over in concern, reaching out to help him up.
Mike shot her a glare. What kind of stupid question was that? She should fall once and try asking herself that!
But just as he was writhing in pain, he caught sight of all those red and green beans littered on the ground. His e

All his
pain vanished in an instant. He jumped to his feet. “I was just saying these beans needed to be sorted–Marcus loves his mixed grains. You can separate them for me!”
What the hell! Separate them? Is that not just making life hard for me! And wait–wasn’t he the one who fell down? Why did he suddenly look so damn cheerful?
Rebecca couldn’t figure it out, nor did she want to ask. “Okay. You go on then.”
Mike smiled, finally relieved as he walked off.
So many beans, so tiny. It’ll take forever to sort them. By the time she’s done, Mr. Sebastian will definitely be long gone.
Still, it was baffling–why did Nathan care so much about Ms. Rebecca and Sebastian spending time together?
From a man’s point of view… could this be jealousy?
Rebecca had no idea Mike had played a trick. She was only thinking that Marcus liked red and green beans, and they looked so fresh and full–must’ve cost a pretty penny. She didn’t dare be careless and carefully scooped up the beans, separating them one by one
It took her half the day
The life of the rich so down–to–earth, yet painfully boring
By 5 pm, she finally finished.
When she stepped outside, she saw Nathan sitting on the sofa, marking documents. The sunlight was just right, framing hum in a soft glow of silver–he looked particularly striking
She blinked. “Mr. Sebastian already left?”
Nathan looked up at her, his deep, inky gaze boring into her “What, can’t bear to see him go? Still hoping to leave with him?”
A casual question, thrown lightly–but with an unmistakable edge. Cool, sarcastic, and pressuring
Rebecca smiled. “What are you talking about? I was just curious. The beans are sorted. If Marcus still isn’t coming back today. then I don’t have anything to do–I’ll head home?”
Before she finished, a phone alarm rang though the air
Nathan turned his head toward it. It was the alarm he’d set the night before. He rose to his feet. “Time to pick up Emma”

Did he jind out”
Just the thought of it made her feel like she coul in’t breathe
Noticing her reaction, Nathan frowned. “She latched on to me. I didn’t want to break my word. Why are you so shocked
Oh So that what it was
Her pounding heart finally settled back down. But in her mind–Emma, that little rascal! She secretly made a date with Nathan behind my back She’s so getting her butt smacked!
Afraid Nathan would notice anything, she forced a laugh. “N–no reason. I just thought.. Nathan, you’re always so high and mighty, perfect and untouchable–watching you lower yourself to go to a kindergarten is really something!”
Seeing her fawning like that, Nathan didn’t bother replying. He grabbed his car keys and phone and walked out in a halo of noble indifference.
Rebecca groaned and tapped her forehead before hurrying to follow him.
It was dismissal time. The wide school gate was packed with luxury cars. Parents stood around, some playing on their phones. others chatting–the atmosphere buzzing with noise and heat.
Nathan had always hated places like this. And with work still pending, he drove the car around to the back entrance and gor out, walking straight into the school.
The security guard saw his branded suit, luxury car, and commanding aura. Thinking he was an inspector, the guard didn’t dare stop him
Rebecca thought to herself.ts expected in this world, a pretty face really can get you anywhere. Without one you can’t take a step
Inside the classroom, the kids were lining up to come out.
Emma was at the back of the line, craning her neck, looking for her future daddy. Why isn’t he here yet!
“Wild girl. Your dad didn’t come again, huh! Ber you were lying all along
“You don’t have a dad, You’re a stray kid. A big liar. A little loser abandoned by her daddy”
A chubby boy suddenly bumped into Emma on purpose and mocke her. The other kids started laughing and singing “Only dads are good in this world, kids without dads are just like grass. Out of dyddy’s arms, ugly and dumb, nothing but trash to be laughed at ”
“Emma’s small and dumb, her eyes big and bulging, wants a daddy so bad, cries like a baby!”
The cruel song echoed, their high–pitched voices full of malice. The chubby boy even tossed his candy wrapper at Emma.
Emma suting on the ground, already small to begin with, now looked even more patiful and wrunged.
Rebecca never expected to see this. Her hand clenched into a fiat. She rushed forward, pulled Emma up, and yelled at the kids “What are you doing! How could you be so rude!”
The sudden outburst stunned the kids. The teacher in front turned around and walked over. “Emina’s mom, how did you get: in here? You scared the kids with your yelling”
tebecca couldn’t help bur laugh baserly “Teacher didn’t you hear them mocking Emma? Giving her mean nicknames! Bullying her Is this how you teachers protect and educate your students?”
Her voice rang clear with two jawerful questions
But the teacher Luw Rebecca was just a delivery worker–hardly someone to respect
