Ralph handed me the peeled apple and said with a smile, “As you wish.”
Just as I was about to take the apple, Mark grabbed the apple angrily and threw it on the ground.
He said with a grim face, “Lily, if you want to make me jealous you win. Stop using other men to trigger me, okay?”
I looked at him speechlessly, “Ex–husband, you think too highly of yourself.”

Ralph agreed, “Sir, that was quite shameless of you.”
Mark was so angry that he gritted his teeth.

Sophie said with a distressed look, “Lily, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for Tammy and I being in poor health, Mark and your parents wouldn’t have to keep us company. It’s all my fault that your relationship with them fell apart . Please don’t torture Mark anymore, please forgive him. If you are willing to forgive him, I am willing to leave and never come back.”
After saying that, she knelt down before me.
I did not expect her to go this far.
Before she could speak, Mark rushed to help her up, he said distressingly, “Sophie, what are you doing?! She should be the one apologizing to you!”
After saying that, he glared at me angrily, “Lily, stop this right now!”
I was still smiling, “Oh, so you’re aware of it?”
Mark wanted to speak, but Sophie suddenly covered her head and screamed.
She yelled, “I am trash, I don’t deserve to live! I deserve to die, I really deserve to die!”
Mark panicked, hugging her tightly and saying, “Sophie, calm down, you have to calm down, you are the best woman in the world.”
Before this, I would feel heartbroken and go crazy if I heard this. Now, I only found them dramatic and amusing.
There was something inexplicably ridiculous about all of this.
Mark suddenly remembered that I was a jealous person. He looked at me with a guilty conscience, but behind it there was a pair of eyes that were distant and unwavering.
It was the same look that showed on the day I mentioned the divorce.
This made his heart sink.
He was flustered, as if I really didn’t care about him anymore.
It was even annoying for me to look at him more than once.
In the summer when she was sixteen, a girl promised to be with a boy forever in front of the shining fireflies. The very same girl has let go of the past, and him with it.
He wanted to explain, but before he could speak, Ralph asked, “What ritual is she up to again?”
