“If you value Hannah’s abilities, you should consider working with Ford Group.”
Tommy chuckled as he tightened his arm around the woman beside him.
“Sorry, Hannah works for Whitmore Group, and I trust them more. We’re leaving.”
With that, he pulled the woman along and left without hesitation.
Kelvin called out several times, but Tommy didn’t stop. It was obvious–he had no intention of doing business with Ford Group.
Frustrated, Kelvin bent down to pick up the jewelry bag from the floor and turned to Christian with a resigned look.
“Christian, we…”
Christian was still staring in the direction Hannah had gone.
“She put on quite the show just to get me to divorce her. Does she really think I care?”
Kelvin scoffed internally. Pardon? You don’t care? Then why did you throw a punch?
He held up the jewelry bag. “Christian, what about this jewelry?”
Christian glanced at it and suddenly realized something.
Hannah must have come today with the intention of making amends, but then she saw the jewelry bag in his hand.
Earlier, he’d been too annoyed with Hudson to give the gift to her right away.
So, Hannah must have assumed it wasn’t meant for her. That disappointment-
And in her frustration, she made a scene and embarrassed him in public.
Hah… she hadn’t changed at all. Still so stubborn. So frustrating.
“Give it to Rebecca. She loves diamonds.”
If Hannah had behaved herself today, that diamond necklace would already be around her neck.
But no–she refused to back down. And he wouldn’t indulge her.
Did she want the necklace? Well, she isn’t getting it. Kelvin stood there, momentarily stunned.
Then he muttered under his breath, “So it was meant for Ms. Rebecca? Then why bring it here in the first place? Now Hannah got excited for nothing.”
Christian didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled out his phone. Hannah would text me to demand an explanation, right?
Back when he used to make excuses to stay out late, she would send him a hundred messages in an hour.
He’d had to put his phone on silent just to get some peace. Thinking about it now, he turned up the

volume on his phone before putting it away.
“Let’s go. Since Tommy’s project is off the table, we’ll talk to Wilson Group instead.”
Kelvin quickly followed. “Wait for me!”

Meanwhile, in the Medical Room, the nurses were busy tending to other patients, so no one had time to help Hudson apply his medication.
Hannah took the bottle. “I’ll do it.”
For a long time, she’d been convinced–thanks to Christian–that Hudson had only helped Whitmore Group grow because of his family connections, that he’d taken shortcuts.
But now, she knew better.
Hudson had always been focused on improving employee benefits. Every worker in the company felt a deep sense of belonging.
With a company like that, where everyone worked toward the same goal, how could it not thrive?
She owed Hudson today. The least she could do was help him apply the medicine.
“Mr. Whitmore, hold still.”
Looking at his injured wrist, guilt washed over her. If Christian hadn’t attacked him, his injury wouldn’t have worsened.
“This was my personal issue. I shouldn’t have dragged you into it.”
Hudson remained calm, his gaze steady as he let her tend to his wound. His tone was purely professional.
“Alan didn’t negotiate with the court fast enough. If he had, you’d be free of Christian by now. You don’t need to feel guilty. And besides, my grudge with Mr. Ford isn’t new. Today’s fight had little to do with you.”
Hannah felt a pang of gratitude. He really is a good boss.
The least she could do was work even harder to repay his kindness. The medicine on the cotton swab felt cool against his skin.
But her touch was so gentle, it barely hurt at all.
Hudson raised an eyebrow. “You have medical training?”
Hannah gave a wry smile. “No, just experience.”
Christian and Chester had both gotten hurt plenty of times.
She had learned how to be careful over the years.
“Then you’re someone who likes to master a skill.”
Hannah paused. If it were Christian, he would have just called her a trickster.
A dull ache settled in her chest.

“This isn’t just a shortcut?” she asked.

Hudson’s tone sharpened. “The person who told you that only said it because he couldn’t do it himself. He wanted to make you feel like it was worthless, to strip you of any confidence.”
His voice carried a firm resolve.
“If any client talks down to you like that, report them to me. Whitmore Group has no need for arrogant, self–righteous partners.”
“It’s not a client,” Hannah muttered. “I was just saying.”
She quickly pulled back the cotton swab, turning her face away before he could see her eyes turning red.
Luckily, Audrey walked in just then.
“Mr. Whitmore, what happened to your hand? Oh no, it’s swollen! What’s going on? Did you call the police?”
Hudson brushed it off. “Basketball injury.”
“Ah…” Audrey cleared her throat awkwardly, then turned to Hannah. “What did the doctor say?”
“Surface injury,” Hannah replied. “It just needs medicine. It should heal in two or three days.”
“That’s good, Audrey sighed in relief. “At least this won’t interfere with the annual gala next week.”
Hannah blinked. She hadn’t heard about this.
“The gala?”
