“Mr. Whitmore, thank you for standing up for me just now. However, since I’ve been slandered, I can’t just sit idly by and let this unfold. I intend to resolve this matter right away.”
Everyone knew that Hudson valued his reputation immensely.
Since he had already stepped forward today, a team of powerful lawyers would back Hannah up afterward.
Hannah could have just enjoyed the advantage.
Yet, she actually declined Hudson’s goodwill and insisted on handling it herself!
For the past few years, she had only been a housewife. She couldn’t possibly have the ability to go up against Christian.
In the end, she would just end up begging for mercy in tears.
Eventually, everyone reached the same conclusion.
“Maybe she’s just fighting the mistress to get back to Mr. Ford’s side.”
“That’s about as far as a full–time housewife can see.”
Hudson didn’t think she was merely being stubborn.
On the contrary, if Hannah lacked the ability to handle unexpected situations, she wouldn’t go far in the future.
“Alright, twenty minutes. Will that be enough?”
Hannah nodded firmly. “Plenty!”
As soon as she finished speaking, she took out her phone and called the police. Then, she turned to the director with a smile.
“The police will arrive within five minutes. I hope you can prepare the surveillance footage in advance.”
The director was silent for a moment before nodding. “If the police need it, we will fully cooperate.”
The crowd was stunned.
In their circle, people preferred scheming behind the scenes rather than handling things openly and involving the police.
Hannah’s approach certainly displeased many.
However, before they could protest, Hannah opened her phone’s camera.
“I’ve started recording. You may choose not to speak, but every word said here will be handed over to the police as evidence.”
Almost instinctively, the crowd took a few steps back.
No one wanted to get involved in a lawsuit.

Chapter 28 The Evidence
After all, no one wanted to be investigated.
Hannah finally felt a moment of peace and turned her camera toward Rebecca.

“Ms. Rebecca, you claimed that my attempt to save Chester meant I was the one who harmed him. Is this your only piece of evidence?”
Rebecca turned her face away and pinched Chester’s arm.
Immediately, Chester glared at Hannah in anger.
“It’s your fault! You just want to drive Ms. Rebecca away! I won’t let Ms. Rebecca leave!”
Hannah ignored the child’s tantrum and continued speaking.
“Ms. Rebecca, did your silence mean you agree with my statement?”
“So, you have no concrete evidence, yet you are openly accusing me of a crime?”
A trace of resentment flashed through Rebecca’s eyes.
D*mn it! Isn’t Hannah just a housewife? Isn’t she supposed to be timid? How did her thinking become so sharp and her presence so commanding after just a few days at work?
Gritting her teeth, Rebecca patted Chester on the back and coaxed him. “It’s okay, Chester, don’t cry.”
Then, she sighed and spoke in a pitiful tone.
“I never intended to compete with you. I only attended today’s event because I didn’t want Chester to be disappointed. There’s no need for you to escalate this matter so much.”
Hannah didn’t buy it. “Please answer my question directly. Otherwise, you are deliberately slandering me. Everyone present is a witness!”
Rebecca’s expression darkened.
Although no one dared to speak out, the disdainful looks directed at her were like needles against her back.
She closed her eyes briefly, then spoke in a tearful voice.
“As a mom, instead of caring about your child’s well–being, you’re only concerned with convicting the person your child likes? How heartless can you be? Chester, it’s fine if your mom doesn’t care about you. I’ll take you to the hospital. Don’t be afraid!“**
Hannah turned to the director. “Why hasn’t the school nurse arrived yet?”
Every kindergarten had a nurse on staff. Enough time had passed, one should have arrived to check on Chester long ago.
“I’m here!”
A doctor in a white coat and face mask stepped out from the crowd.
“I already performed a preliminary check–up on Chester earlier, but Ms. Rebecca refused to let anyone else near him, so…”

Hannah’s gaze grew even colder.

“Is this how you care for the child, Ms. Rebecca? Do you not understand that every second counts in an emergency? From here to the hospital takes at least fifteen minutes by car. Are you trying to save him, or are you trying to stall? Do you really care about the child?”
Rebecca’s face turned red with anger.
The loving mother image she had just crafted crumbled instantly.
“I only wanted Chester to receive better treatment. Stop twisting my words!”
Hannah sneered. “Then why didn’t you let the nurse approach? Were you afraid she would find out what you did to the child?”
Since Rebecca accused her of twisting words, she decided to play along.
Rebecca was speechless.
The nurse quickly stepped forward and checked Chester again.
“The child is fine. He was just frightened.”
Only then did Hannah quietly sigh in relief.
At that moment, the police arrived.
The surveillance footage was ready, so they first took the relevant parties to review it.
The entire way, Rebecca clung tightly to Chester, lowering her voice.
“Chester, I was so scared. Thank goodness you’re okay.”
