When Cyrus mind–linked me that he had Kian, I was conflicted between throwing him in the dungeon vs putting him in my office. One part of me wants to rip him to shreds for lying and daring to touch her with his filthy paws. One part of me wants to kill him for hurting her. A bigger part of me wants to make sure that my poisoning and his brutality of little wolf are unrelated. I decide to have him taken to my office to test something. Upon entering and placing my eyes on him, I think the part of me that wants his blood will win. Standing here, smelling his fear as I stalk in and fill the room with my aura, I know that this will go one way. I just need my answers first
“Kian, take a seat please.” I growl out, barely able to keep myself from shifting. He quickly sits down and starts stumbling all over his words. “Alpha, I don’t know what she told you, but we had an argument and I turned to leave and didn’t know she was behind me. I didn’t mean to hurt her!” I stare at him for a while, letting him stew in fear. Cyrus has the door blocked and Damon is next to the couch. I have all the time in the world. Except the longer I am here, the further away from little wolf I am, and I would really like to talk her into mating ceremony, which I can’t do staring at this piece of shit. “Do I look like a fool to you Kian?” “No..no..alpha that wasn’t my intentions.” “You want me to believe you got into an argument with little wolf? What was the argument about?” “She..I asked her to stop seeing you and she refused?” Interesting. I didn’t get this from little wolf, which probably means it is a lie. The way he is fidgeting would suggest that. “She is my mate..and I could smell you in her rooms. My wolf reacted. I am sorry.” “How did she tell you this? Did she tell you no calmly? Like she cares about me as her alpha and friend and still wanted to see me? Or did she tell you anger? Like no matter what you said, she would see me regardless of the mate bond?” “She told me with anger. Yelled it at me even. I lost my cool. You can understand our wolves when it comes to those we care about.”
“That was you first screw up in here Kian.” This shifter has a death wish. “She yelled at you? Even Cyrus knows she wasn’t talking when you dared to lay a hand on her. She was still mute.” His eyes go wide in his slip up. Of course he wouldn’t remember that Probably doesn’t even know her eye color. “Your second mistake is thinking I would believe that you ran off and left your mate when I know fact that I would never leave my mate. I would never consider the option of separation from her. I would rather die than lay a hand on her.” “I.. didn’t realize you had a mate alpha. We haven’t heard of a luna yet.” “Who told you to keep Ayla from me?” I decide to circle back to his luna comment later. I really can’t put this off any longer. “I don’t know what you are talking about. She is my mate.” I stand up from my desk and flip it in the air. Everything crashing around us. “If you mention Ayla as your mate one my fucking time, it will be your last breath you take.” “Now, I know she isn’t your mate. I know you were paid to keep her away from me. And I want a name, or you are going to the dungeon for poisoning me.” “Poison? What? What are you talking about I would never.” “Well, here is the thing Kian. I was poisoned, and you had a problem with me. What am I supposed to think?” I can practically see him sweating bullets, drenched in fear. I push my of my aura into the room and he shows his neck in submission.
“I swear alpha I don’t know about poisoning..I swear it. I was getting paid to keep her from you. Some bitch hired me. I swear.” Interesting development. I stalk over to Kian slowly while nodding my head at Cyrus to proceed. “You want to know how I knew you were lying about Ayla being your mate? Because when my mate is around, I can smell her coming. I can feel her in my chest. I can feel the bond demanding we connect. I breathe for her. I know Ayla isn’t your mate because she is behind that office door, and you haven’t even flinched.” He darts his head over to where Cyrus has my office door cracked and sure enough, little wolf is standing behind it. I nod to him again and he has Monica take Ayla back to her rooms. Why did I do this? Because my little wolf is an ancient, fates blessed omega, and I wanted to make sure there wasn’t some crazy ‘she can be mates with anyone‘ nightmare that I need to know about. Turns out, she’s all mine. The biggest smile comes across my fast as I let that sink it. I am sure I look like a maniac standing in front of Kian smiling from ear to ear, but that only strengthens my image.
