Chapter 14
Thane
The revelation that little wolf hasn’t seen the outside in ten years is heartbreaking and sets me into a rage. Protect, kill them all. Ronan is eager for blood. To totally annihilate every shifter that had a part to play in little wolfs misery. Her first steps outside, seeing that sun shine brightly on her face, illuminating her snow–white hair is breathtaking. She is beautiful and seeing her smile makes every raid worth it. Every risk we take necessary to see her smile like this. To truly feel a bit of happiness for the first time in years. We will get names, the scumbag in the dungeon is still being tortured. We can pay him a visit later Ronan and we can work on getting answers for Ayla. The promise of blood shed seems to sate Ronan for now and he relaxes in my mind.
Escorting Ayla into her room is a sight. Her eyes go wide and she is darting them around taking everything in. I am proud the shifters on the first floor made them scare as instructed. I sense there would have been a panic attack had they not. “This here is obviously you living room area. The whole place is open concept. You have a small kitchenette since its guest lodging, but we also have a mess hall on the second floor where everyone can eat together if they want. I have meals brought up to you today though. I think slow is best right now and I am sure you agree.” She quickly looks at me and nods her head “yes.” I continue showing her around her rooms. Her eyes go wide when we enter her bedroom. I’m not sure if it’s the king–sized bed or just the fact she has one, but she begins to run her hand over the covers longingly. “This here is the door that separates our rooms. Through this door is my bedroom. It has a deadbolt here and there is one installed on your main door. You can choose to keep them locked. I have instructed everyone to stay off of this floor. There will be of course a few visitors to my place at times, but I mainly spend most of my time in my office or at the training grounds. Oh, I almost forgot…” I quickly walk over to her dresser, which I had filled with clothes and pick up a cell phone I had delivered for her. I hand her the phone and she slowly reach for it, turning it over and inspecting it. “I got you a cell phone since you can’t mind–link me. I reserve the mind–link for my close circle and we need to have a conversation about your pack and what you want to do, where you want to go.” At that she quickly turns around and looks at me with panicked eyes. “I’m not saying you have to leave here little wolf; I meant that if you want to return to your old pack, I can make that happen, or if you want to stay here and join the Midnight pack you can do that to.” The thought of her leaving has Ronan forcing himself into my mind barrier, pushing to break through Stay, protect, he growls. Calm down Ronan. This is overwhelming enough; I don’t need you forcing a shift in front of her. If she wants to return to her old pack, we have to allow that. She isn’t our mate Ronan; we can’t force her to stay. That statement to him earns me a very loud, rage filled growl.
“If you like, I can show you how to use your phone later, but whether you stay or go, you get to keep that. I programmed my number in there. You can hold down the one button to call me, but if you push this bubble here on your phone you can write to me. I have a text thread already started for you. Just write to me here and push this button and then i will get it immediately. Once you get more settled, we can introduce you to others.” On cue footsteps entering the room have us both spinning, taking in Cyrus as he stands there shirtless and sweaty. His abs hanging out and his gray sweatpants leaving nothing to the imagination. Ronan starts growling in my head, surprising me. I’m not sure why the site of Cyrus here aggravates me so much, but he definitely wasn’t invited to barge in. Ayla quickly steps over to me and grabs a hold of the side of my shirt, ducking behind me.
