When the words left her mouth. Xylia turned and walked away without glancing at the vibrant, multicolored bouquet.
Sebastian held the bouquet with a helpless smile, then brought it home and placed it in a vase.
“Oh? That flower field is your prized possession. You wouldn’t even let me pick a single one before, and now you’ve brought home an entire bouquet? What’s with the sudden change of heart?” Eleanor commented casually over dinner.

That night, she washed up early, laid down a floor mattress, and lay down. But she couldn’t fall asleep no matter how much she tossed and turned.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t used to sleeping on the floor. Her mind kept replaying what had happened in the garden that afternoon.
Xylia wasn’t naive. She understood the subtle tension between adults, the unspoken undercurrents. She pretended not to see it because she couldn’t bring herself to cross that line.

Her gaze flickered, involuntarily tracing the defined lines of his eight–pack abs, the heat from his damp skin seeping through her thin sleepwear. Xylia’s mind was short–circuited and involuntarily filled with thoughs she had no business entertaining. But Sebastian placed her on the bed.

take me to the doctor?”
It was the same trick as always. But Xylia was a doctor. She could hear the difference in his voice.

Yrian had always been like this selfish, spoiled, and used to getting his way. Irene and the rest of the family indulged him endlessly. Whenever Xylia tried to discipline him, they would interfere, and in the end, things always went his way.
She couldn’t afford to be softhearted. If she gave in, the Castros would devour her all over again.

She had no reason to refuse. She realized what he meant. Only after they left did she quickly explain. “T was tired. It’s just Yrian’s sick and alone, so I have to go

The Castros were wealthy but not particularly generous. At night, even their maids went home. So Yrian hadn’t been lying about being alone.
