Chapter 18 Slapping Him a Few Times.
“What are you laughing at?” Xylia wiped her eyes,
She wasn’t crying yet, but tears were threatening to fall,
“Don’t tell me there’s some obvious loophole in the contract that I completely missed.”
“What do you think?” Sebastian smiled faintly.
In an instant, Xylia’s tears poured down like a broken dan, unstoppable.
Sebastian’s composed demeanor shattered immediately

Panicked, he fumbled in his pocket, pulling out a handkerchief and clumsily wiping her tears. “Don’t cry.”
“Wannah Xylia sobbed even louder.
The more he wiped, the more her tears fell. Completely at a loss, Sebastian tried to coax her. “Don’t cry. I was just messing with you.”
To you rich people, we poor folks are nothing but playthings!” Xylia buried herself in the couch, refusing to let him wipe her tears, her cries becoming even louder.
Sebastian reached out and easily gathered her into his arms, placing her hand against his cheek. “Please, don’t cry. I was teasing. If you’re upset, go ahead and slap me
His face was already flushed, his cars burning red.
He was doing his best to comfort her, but Xylia wasn’t listening at all.
She poured out her pain. “What have I done to deserve this? My parents died just before my wedding. My family lost everything. I waited five years for my husband, five years! How many of those do you get in a lifetime? Why is everyone I meet awful? I’m sidelined by men at work, and now you’re playing games with r me too. What’s the point? I might as well just end it all
As she wailed, her hand really did slap him a few times.
Sebastian’s already flushed face now bore a few clear handprints.
Yet he didn’t dare utter a single word. He simply let her cry, only speaking softly once she had exhausted herself.
“Should I just die instead? It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have joked with you. Xylia was still sniffling.
Sebastian was consumed by self–frustration, fighting the urge to slap himself.
However, fearing he’d further upset the delicate Xylia in his arms, he opted for soft, soothing words.
Only when he got no response did he realize–she had fallen asleep.
Xylia slept soundly that night.
When she woke up, she felt more refreshed than she had in a long time,

A cool sensation on her face. She touched it and then sniffed her fingers. Because she had studied holistic medicine, she identified the ointment’s scent. It was used to reduce swelling and redness
Looking around, she realized she was in the Jackman Residence, in Sebastian’s and her shared bedroom. Fragments of last night’s memories pieced themselves ogether in her mind. She vaguely recalled Sebastian repeatedly assuring her that the contract was fine and that he had just been teasing her.
So then… my emotional breakdoten, the hysterical crying, that had that all been fort
Xylia covered her face in embarrassment. She could never show her face again.
Beside her was a kraft paper envelope and a small stick note. “Sorry. I’ll add another 5 of the hospital shares for you -Sebastian”
Xylia opened the envelope. Inside were the contract from yesterday and an additional agreement.
True to his word, the document formally granted her another 5% of the shares. Sebastian’s signature was already affixed.
Was this how rich people apologized?
Xylia’s mood lifted instantly. Who cared about emotional breakdowns? Money made everything better.
With this, she now held 60% of the shares. Since Sebastian had fully funded and built the hospital, as long as she didn’t completely mismanage it, her assets would only continue to grow.
Xylia understood that Sebastian hadn’t built the hospital out of pity. She recognized her own substantial abilities.
Given time, she was confident she would create something remarkable.
The hospital was named GF Medical Center–a private facility with an already established operations team. Several doctors had already been hired, and every department was staffed with professionals Xylia didn’t have to worry too much about the day–to–day management
During her first few days on the job, she met with several doctors. They were polite on the surface, greeting her respectfully, but their eyes were full of indifference.
Xylia understood the skepticism stemming from her age and experience. She didn’t mind. However, if their dismissive attitude towards female doctors persisted after working together, as her previous colleagues had, she wouldn’t hesitate to challenge them.
Lately, with a surge of severe cases from across the country, everyone, including Xylia, was working long
hours.
She had a suspicion about the origin of these patients. So she decided to hold an emergency meeting. asking the doctors to report each case and suggest treatment plans based on their expertise.
“Alongside the standard medical treatments, I recommend integrating holistic therapies for these patients. Begin with a base of calming, circulatory, blood–building, and soothing herbs, and then adjust the herbal blend based on individual symptoms
As Xylia spoke, she swiftly wrote out detailed prescriptions on the whiteboard, listing both holistic and
modern treatments.

The doctors below frowled at times, looking puzzled at others. “Isn’t this approach too risky? We’ve never used this kind of treatment before.
“Dr. Watson, if something goes wrong, the hospital could be shut down.”
Xylia shook her head. “My family’s background is in herbal medicine, and we possess many formulas. Modern medicine offers quick relief, but its long–term effects can be harmful Holistic medicine provides stability. Using both approaches will create a synergistic effect.”
Someone spoke up. I’ve studied some holistic medicine as well. The herbs Dr. Watson suggested don’t conflict with the Western medications. In fact, they complement each other. It’s worth a try.”
In the end. Xylia’s proposal was approved.
Within three days, the results spoke for themselves.
After being discharged, a patient who had endured severe allergic reactions and extensive skin ulcers brought a banner to thank Xylia and her attending physician. “I was hopeless, the patient explained. “Brighton Central Hospital couldn’t treat me. I only came here because of an online recommendation. I was completely surprised by how wonderful the doctors here are!”
Xylia smiled. Although CF Medical Center was still building its reputation, they had a strong marketing team. Their patient base was primarily generated through online efforts. She was confident that GF Medical Center would soon gain global recognition.
“Dr. Watson, you’re truly impressive. A doctor gave her a sincere thumbs–up.
The hospital’s atmosphere had completely changed in just a few days. Her hard work hadn’t been in vain.
When she had left Brighton Central Hospital, she had deliberately taken patient records with her so she could research their cases in her spare time.
If Greg had stood up for her back then, she could have remained at Brighton Central Hospital, treating those patients.
But it was no longer important. She vastly preferred her life as it was.
In just a short time, GF Medical Center made waves throughout the city, and its reputation quickly spread nationwide.
The first to panic were the doctors at Brighton Central Hospital.
They were already dealing with challenging cases, attempting to find solutions for several patients. Then, abruptly, those patients stopped showing up.
Some patients stopped responding to their messages altogether. One patient replied directly. I’m receiving excellent care at GF Medical Center. I’m nearly fully recovered. I won’t be returning. Attached was a raw, unedited photo.
It showed a woman with severe, previously untreatable psoriasis on her face. Now, her skin was remarkably smooth and even noticeably lighter.
“GF Medical Center? I’ve never heard of it.
Greg frowned. “I heard someone mention it a few days ago. I’ll look into it. Apparently, it’s owned by the

Jackman family”
“The Jackman family? Well, that explains it. Everyone knows that man never makes a losing bet.”

“Haha! Brighton Central Hospital’s dermatology department used to be the best in the country. But now, Dr. Zink is abroad, and the richest man just claimed a piece of that pic. You guys are in serious trouble.”
Greg didn’t say a word. He’d been conducting a clandestine investigation,
As the results loaded on his phone, his face became grim.
He said. “Xylia is there.
