He shot a glance at Shadow–1 and Shadow–2, and the two immediately sprang into action, swiftly cleaning up the greenhouse. In no time, the place was spotless, with tables and chairs sanitized and wiped down.
“Mr. Jackman, Mrs. Jackman, please have a seat.
Xylia stared in surprise. Thank you.”
Shadow–1 and Shadow–2 shook their heads. “This is what we should do. It must be quite a downgrade for you to come to a place like this.”
Nylia cleared her throat twice. “I think Sebastian has it worse…
Sebastian’s lips curved slightly, and he said nonchalantly, “Not at all. Back in the tropics, I had it much worse than this. As long as you’re comfortable, that’s all that matters. If you’re not used to it, we can go somewhere else.”
The air was thick with the aroma of grilled food, different from anything she’d made herself. Xylia shook her head. No need. This place is nice.”
Sebastian studied her face for a moment, confirming she was truly fine before nodding. “Alright, then we’ll eat here
The vendor seemed taken aback by the grand presence of their group, but after accepting Sebastian’s payment, he happily ushered out any other customers who had hoped to enter the tent.
Before long, a variety of skewers were brought to the table. Xylia picked up a lamb skewer, took a small bite, and her eyes lit up.
“Delicious! Way better than what I make.” She turned to Shadow–1 and Shadow–2. “You guys should try
some too.
The two hesitated at first, but Sebastian simply said, “Go ahead.”
Only then did they take their seats. The vendor brought over beer and wine–Xylia opted for beer, while the three men all had full glasses of whiskey. The atmosphere grew lively.
Shadow–I’s face turned red from drinking
Mrs. Jackman, Mr. Jackman knows how to grill, too Back in Juncos, he used to take us out for barbecues. He only used a bit of salt, but it was the best I’ve ever had!”
“Really? Xylia glanced at Sebastian with curiosity. He nodded casually. “Mhm. I’ll make it for you
Sometime.”
He had downed several glasses of whiskey, yet his face remained unchanged–only the tips of his ears were slightly red. Whether it was from the fire or the alcohol Xylia couldn’t tell
For the first time, he felt more like a regular person rather than some flawless shell.
If only he didn’t see her as a stand–in. If only they could be a real couple.
As Xylia ate, lost in thought, a commotion broke out outside. It sounded like the vendor was arguing with

“There’s plenty of space in there! Why aren’t you letting us in I’m going in whether you like it or not!”
The next second, the tent flap was lifted, revealing two familiar faces–Irene and Yrian
The moment Irene spotted Nylia, her eyes gleamed.
She stomped over in her high heels, her freshly manicured nails pointed accusingly at Xylia as she shouted, “Oh, sor you beat up Yrian, and now you’re here feasting without a care in the world? And using our family’s money to hire all these bodyguards? Is there a more vicious woman in the world than you? And you all are protecting this wretched woman–docs your conscience not bother you?”
The three men at the table remained silent, but their expressions turned ice–cold. Yrian, who had been so arrogant before, now cowered behind Irene.
His face was covered in bruises and wounds, making for a shocking sight. Even though Xylia no longer felt any familial attachment to him, she still found the sight unsettling.
But Irene’s words made her even more disgusted.
“I wasn’t the one who hit Yrian, Xylia said flatly.
Everyone says it was you! Don’t even think about lying your way out of this. Who else but you would be so cruel!”
Irene raised her hand to slap Xylia.
Nylia had already prepared to defend herself, but just before the slap could land, a strong hand caught Ireties Wrist
“Get lost.”
Sebastian’s voice was icy as he flung Irene back. She stumbled and crashed into the table, letting out a sharp cry as tears welled up in her eyes from the pain.
“How dare you hit a woman! You’re shameless! Everyone, come see this!”
Her shrill voice was as loud as a megaphone, drawing the attention of diners in nearby tents. But before. they could get a good look. Shadow–I and Shadow–2 blocked the entrance and pulled the flap shut.
Irene screeched for ages, but not a single bystander managed to get in. Left with no audience, she clutched her aching waist and pointed a furious finger at Sebastion.
“You think being her bodyguard makes you so great? I wear, I’ll make sure you can’t survive in Brighton! If you dare offend the Castros, you
regret it!”
Xylia almost laughed at that.
Sebastian’s identity wasn’t exactly a secret in high society. He was just too low–key, and since Irene spent all her time lurking around Castro Group, keeping an eye on employees, she had never crossed paths with Jackman Group. The two companies had never collaborated, so she had no clue who he was.
Of course, before looking him up online, Irene had never even seen Sebastian before.
Sebastian looked at her with a half–smile, saying nothing, yet his presence alone was overwhelming. The ever–arrogant Irene instinctively took a step back.
