Irene rushed over and scooped him up. When she looked up again, Xylia had already left in her car.

“Enough. Starting tomorrow, your new mom will take care of you. She’s been looking after you all this time, even though she was too weak to stop Xylia from hitting you.”
Irene was convinced that Xylia had beaten Yrian. As she got into the car, she took a closer look at his face, her teeth gritted in fury.
“It had to be Xylia and those bodyguards of hers. I’ll hire a few for you too!”
Yrian winced from the pain and murmured, “Grandma, can she not take care of me?”
“Why not?” Irene frowned. “Didn’t you like her before? Now that she’s officially your mom, you’re not happy about ic”
Yrian opened his mouth, fear Ilickering in his eyes again. But before he could say anything. Irene spoke over him. “I get it–you’re just feeling sorry for Ruby. Don’t worry, she’s your mother now. It’s her responsibility to take care of you. I’ll call her right now
She pulled out her phone and dialed. The call connected instantly.

In another car. Xylia leaned back against the plush scat her eyes closed. The image of Yrian falling to the ground played in her mind. Her red lips parted slightly.
“Sebastian, do you think I’m heartless?”
“No.”
A bitter smile tugged at Xylia’s lips. “Thanks. That cases some of my guilt. I failed to raise my son. properly.”
“Genes can’t be changed, Sebastian replied.
A dull ache spread through Xylia’s chest.
Abandoning her child was an excruciating decision for any mother.
But at least out of sight, out of mind,
When Jayden heard that Yrian was hospitalized with food poisoning, he was furious.
Irene twisted the truth about what had happened that night, pinning all the blame on Xylia.

“GF Medical Center? That place is a dump. She’s just there to kill time. Mom is overthinking things. Someone as pampered as Xylia could never be a real threat.”
