Overwhelmed with gratitude, she insisted on giving me two thousand dollars as a thank–you.
Grinning from ear to ear, I happily brought the money back home.
It was late, and there were still many game bosses whose wishes I hadn’t had time to fulfill. For now, I had no choice but to set them aside.
The next day, full of energy, I arrived at work right on time.
“Our game bosses here are all very kind. Clearing a game instance is super simple! Just do this and that, and oh, since this instance opened ten years ago, a whopping single–digit number of people have cleared it! Good luck! Believe in yourselves!”
After hearing my motivational speech, the players twitched at the corners of their mouths before stepping forward with the resolve of someone marching to their doom.
Time flew by, and before I knew it, 5 p.m. had arrived.
It was time for room inspections.
Knock, knock, knock.
Ruby quickly opened the door. As soon as she saw me, her face lit up with excitement.
“You’re here!”
Unable to resist, I pinched her cheek lightly. “You little troublemaker, have you been causing mischief again? Let me see if you’ve made a mess of the room.”

She pouted and touched her face. “You already scolded me about that yesterday. Do you think I’d make the same mistake twice?”
I stepped inside and looked around carefully.
To my surprise, the room was noticeably cleaner than yesterday. At least half the windows were still intact, the support beam hadn’t collapsed, and even the lights were still working.
Knowing Ruby’s destructive tendencies, the current state of her room was already a huge improvement. I praised her warmly, “Great job! This is your reward.”
I pulled out a handful of lollipops, stickers, and snacks I’d bought last night and placed them in her hands.
She beamed with delight and said sweetly, “Thank you, Miss.”
I replenished her room with some water and tissues, tidied up a bit, and rearranged a few things.
Throughout the process, she sat on a chair with her legs crossed, watching me.
“Miss, I got a lot of money today. Did you send it to me?”
I shook my head. “How could I? I’m so broke.”
She didn’t say a word, just stared at me with an unwavering gaze.
Under her intense scrutiny, I couldn’t help but give in. “Alright, fine, yes, I sent it.”
The truth was, I discovered that a few cents in the real world could be exchanged for a thousand in–game currency. How could I resist such a great deal?
