On the stretcher, the man’s right hand clutched his abdomen, his handsome face nearly white, brows furrowed in pain.
Standing nearest to the exit, Nicole had the clearest view as the medical team carried Travis out.
Travis, irritated by the crowd’s noise, asked James to send them away. Looking up, he noticed Nicole watching him.
Just as he thought she might be concerned, she gave him a brief, indifferent glance before turning away.
As the ambulance raced from the Splendor Hotel to the hospital, Travis lay on the gurney, haunted by Nicole’s cold stare.
She didn’t even care when he was in pain anymore.
Could it be that she truly no longer loved him?
Travis felt uneasy. As the pain intensified, his consciousness began to fade….
After examining Travis, the doctor looked serious. “Acute appendicitis. We need to get him into surgery immediately.”
The medical team quickly prepped him for emergency surgery while James contacted his next of kin.
After receiving the call, William had his butler, Ford, drive him there immediately.
When Travis woke from surgery, he saw his grandfather looking down at him, eyes bloodshot with worry.
When he saw his grandson awake, William’s worried expression quickly turned to irritation.
“You’re a grown man can’t you take care of yourself?”
“Grandpa, why are you here?” Travis asked groggily, still foggy from anesthesia.
Grandfather snapped, “The hospital called me as your emergency contact. Did you expect me to ignore it when my r grandson’s having emergency surgery?”
Finally, Travis understood what had happened.
He turned his head, shooting an icy glare at his assistant James. “How dare you bother Grandfather at his age! Why didn’t you call Nicole to come instead?”
James looked hurt by the rebuke, mumbling softly, “Sir, have you forgotten? You and Mrs. Graham are divorced!”
Divorced?
The word hit Travis like a bolt of lightning, finally reminding him of the past few days‘ events.
Nicole, who had been part of his life for so many years, had really divorced him.
It all felt like a dream, so unreal.
“Mr. Graham!” James’s alarmed cry diverted Travis’s attention.
William had turned pale, clutching his chest as he collapsed into James’s arms.
“Grandpa!” Travis tried to sit up, but the anesthesia hadn’t fully worn off his lower body. He could only watch helplessly in panic.

“Mrs. Graham, it’s terrible the old Mr. Graham has collapsed!”
Still considering William her family, Nicole immediately asked Ford to text her the hospital address, not even noticing that he’d still called her “Mrs. Graham.”
When she arrived at the hospital to find William in emergency care, Nicole’s heart jumped into her throat. She quickly turned to Ford, asking what had happened.
