Ford explained everything to Nicole. William’s heart had started acting up when he learned of Travis’s emergency appendectomy, and staying up all night in the cold hospital corridor had made things worse.
Understanding the situation, Nicole knew William’s condition stemmed from worrying about Travis.
With Travis’s mother deceased and his father living abroad, William had raised him alone.
“Nicole, why are you here? Did Ford call you?”
William brightened at seeing Nicole but felt uncomfortable that Ford had called her, now that she and Travis were divorced.
Nicole understood his concern and took his weathered hand, speaking softly, “Grandpa, you’ve been like a real grandfather to me all these years. Of course I’d come when you’re in the hospital!”
William sighed deeply. “Ah, Nicole, you’re such a good girl. Travis is a fool to lose you.”
Ford added, “That’s why Mr. Graham is lying there with no one to care for him.”
William snorted, “He brought this on himself!”
Despite his words, he asked Ford to check on Travis.

Ford didn’t move, looking at Nicole pointedly. “Sir, I’ve been your butler for decades. I wouldn’t know the thing about caring for young Mr. Graham. Besides, he wouldn’t want some old man hovering over him.”
William was about to snap when Nicole stood up. “Grandfather, Ford has been with you for decades. He knows exactly how to care for you. I’ll look after Travis,”
After Nicole left, William gave Ford a knowing look. “Why play matchmaker now? Travis only has Miller. You’ll just hurt Nicole more.”

Ford smiled mysteriously. “Sir, I believe Travis actually loves Nicole. He just hasn’t realized it yet. Give them more time together, and sparks might fly.”
Sparks did fly between Travis and Nicole, but not the romantic kind.
“What are you doing here? Get out!”
The moment Travis opened his eyes to find Nicole wiping his face with a cool cloth, he exploded in anger.
Especially since he remembered how she’d abandoned him during his stomach pain, his fury erupted as he knocked the basin from her hands.
The lukewarm water soaked Nicole’s designer dress.
She paused, but instead of her usual desperate pleas, she simply pressed the call button for a nurse to clean
mess.
“Travis, darling, what’s wrong? You look terrible!”
A soft, concerned voice came from the doorway.
Nicole didn’t need to turn around to know who it was.
A tall bodyguard wheeled Lucy into the room.
When Lucy saw Nicole’s soaked clothes, she put on an exaggerated show of concern.

“Nicole, you’re drenched! Are you alright?”
Nicole’s lips curved into a cold smile as she glanced at Lucy thinking about how this woman always played her part to perfection. Oscar truly owed her an award.
But Nicole had no interest in playing along anymore.
“Spare me your fake concern. Since you’re here, you can take care of this overgrown baby yourself.”
