Chapter 8
In twenty years of knowing her and three years of marriage, Travis had never really looked at Nicole properly.
Since she’d entered his life, she’d only been an annoyance.
She was too chatty, always hovering around him.
Over tim
time, instead of growing fond of her, he’d only felt increasing weariness and disgust.
Now she stood there in an ankle–length floral dress in pale blue, paired with a fitted white T–shirt, radiating elegance with her perfect curves.
Her long, wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her subtle yet flawless makeup made her look almost otherworldly.
Travis stared at this transformed Nicole, barely recognizing her.
Was this ethereal woman really the same Nicole he’d known for over twenty years?
Nicole couldn’t be bothered to look at Travis. She checked Her watch instead. “We said 10 AM. You’re ten minutes late. Let’s go in – I have other things to do later.”
Her voice snapped Travis out of his thoughts.
Seeing her eagerness to get divorced irritated him.
“50d
“So desperate to divorce me? Fine, I’ll give you what you want!”
Though he felt unsettled by her urgency, his words remained harsh and cutting as ever.
But a heart can only be stabbed so many times before it goes numb.
Hearing his sarcasm, Nicole smiled serenely.
“Thanks for your generosity. What are we waiting for? Let’s get it done.”
Without waiting for Travis, she walked straight into the courthouse.
Seeing her hurry inside, Travis felt his unease grow stronger.
He quickly caught up and grabbed her wrist.
Nicole spun around, yanking her arm away in disgust.
“Since we’re getting divorced, Mr. Graham, please keep your hands to yourself.”
This response triggered Travis’s contrarian nature. He grabbed her wrist again, his face dark, and silently tried pulling her toward the exit.
Nicole was baffled by his contradictory behavior.
“What are you doing, Travis? Having second thoughts about the divorce?”
Travis, with his massive ego, Immediately let go at those words.
He turned around, glaring at her in frustration. Second thoughts? Never! I can’t wait to divorce you!!
Nicole crossed her arms, smirking at his erratic behavior.
Then please hurry, Mr. Grahain, I’m on a tight schedule, ‘s finish this in thirty minutes.

“Fine, let’s do it right now!!
“After you, Mr. Graham!”
“Hmph!”
Travis meticulously adjusted his tie and suit jacket before striding into the courthouse.
In less than thirty minutes, Nicole held their divorce papers
At the entrance, she raised the document with her slender hand and took a photo.
Travis stood behind her, catching the look of relief in her profile.
Yes, relief.
Travis’s hands clenched into fists at his sides.
Was she actually happy about divorcing him?
No, impossible. She must be pretending to be happy just to spite him.
With this thought, he strode forward and said coldly, “Finally free of you.”
Nicole was putting the divorce papers in her shoulder bag when she heard him. She looked up with a smile. “Me too. Finally liberated.”
