Chapter 15 Sudden Faint
Clara woke up at five in the afternoon from a nap to the ringing of her phone. It was Cassian, who she had previously saved, calling to invite her to a family dinner hosted by his wife, Nora. Unable to refuse their warm invitation, Clara agreed to attend.
Cassian sent a driver to pick her up, and Clara was surprised to find they lived in a luxurious mansion. After the meal, as she prepared to leave, Cassian and Nora insisted she stay longer. Despite her attempts to decline, she couldn’t resist Nora’s tearful pleas and agreed to extend her
visit.
Thus, Clara ended up staying at Dane Mansion for over half a month, during which she played. chess with Cassian, chatted, helped Nora with the garden, and discussed everyday matters. They got along very well.
One day, while Clara and Nora were preparing lunch in the kitchen, Nora insisted. “Clara, you’re at guest, let me handle the cooking.
Clara replied, “Grandma, you shouldn’t strain yourself at your age. Please, sit down; I’ll prepare lunch.”
Nora, watching her, beamed with joy, “Clara is so capable, both in the parlor and the kitchen. Such a fine girl; I wonder which lucky young man will end up with her.”
Clara just smiled without responding.
“Oh, way, my grandson has been on a business trip for half a month and is returning to the
by the country today. Could you prepare a few extra dishes? He’ll be home for lunch.”
“Of course, Grandma, no problem.”
As Clara continued chopping vegetables, she remembered that overbearing, sharp–tongued gigolo–Cassian had mentioned his name was Archer! The thought of meeting him again made her checks flush with embarrassment.
Having stayed at Dane Mansion for nearly a month, Clara had never mentioned to the grandparents that Archer had worked as a gigolo, to avoid any conflicts.
“Clara, why is your face so red? Are you feeling unwell?”
Clara awkwardly replied, “Grandma, I’m fine. I’ll just finish cooking and then I need to head home; I have work to do.”
She liked Cassian and Nora, but had no fondness for Archer and didn’t want to see him.
“Alright, do visit us more often when you have time.”
“I will.”
Clara nodded politely, speeding up her food preparation to leave before Archer returned.

At the airport, Archer walked out of the exit, greeted by his assistant, Taylor, “Mr. Dane, welcome back.
Archer responded indifferently, “Hmm.”
“How did your talks go with the Empress of Falvoria?”
“She wants to dazzle everyone at her birthday banquet. We need to discuss her outfit, accessories, and jewelry designs directly with the designer.”
Archer instructed, “Contact Alyssa to finalize the contract as soon as possible. Book two tickets; we need to meet with the Empress in Falvoria soon.”
“Understood, Mr. Dane.”
I’m heading to Dane Mansion to visit my grandparents. Handle things at the office; I’ll be there shortly.”
“Okay.”
After making these arrangements, Archer drove to Dane Mansion.
Dane Mansion, Clara had prepared a variety of delicious dishes and set them on the table.
“Clara, stop busying yourself; this is more than enough food,” Nora told her.
“Okay, I’m almost done,” Clara replied, placing a bowl of soup on the table. “There, all set.”
Removing her apron, Clara addressed Cassian and Nora, “Grandpa, Grandma, I won’t be staying for lunch. I need to rush back home.
“Is it urgent? Can’t you sit down and have a meal before leaving?”
Clara laughed nervously, “Yes, it’s quite urgent. I just need to go upstairs and grab some things.
“Alright…”
As Clara turned to head upstairs, where she had kept several valuable design drafts from her half- month stay, Archer was just returning to the mansion.
“Grandpa, Grandma, I’m back, and I’ve brought gifts for you, Archer announced as he entered.
“Archer’s back, Cassian and Nora went to greet him.
Smelling the food, Archer remarked, “Who cooked all these dishes? They smell fantastic.”
Cassian and Nora exchanged a smile.
“Archer, you must be tired from your trip. Come, sit down and have some warm food,” Nora invited.
