Chapter 19 Signing the Contract
In the aftermath of the scandal involving the head of Dane Corp, the news exploded with headlines celebrating the corporate mogul’s impending fatherhood.
Clara, who normally avoided the news, was shocked when she opened the headlines and saw the stories about Archer. She stared at him incredulously. “You’re just a gigolo, right? How are you the CEO of Dane Corp? And why did the news of my pregnancy get leaked so quickly?”
Archer scoffed. “Even if you lived in the deepest forest, a glance at the news would tell you who I am. Yet, you kept calling me a gigolo. Your acting skills are wasted not being in film!”
“And why do you ask questions you already know the answer to? Did you orchestrate all this?”
Clara was unsettled. She had made peace with the fact that the father of her children was supposedly a gigolo and wanted to give her twins a complete family.
However, now that he had transformed into the CEO of Dane Corp, it seemed to everyone else that she had gone from a sparrow to a phoenix. But why did he imply I had planned everything?
“What does the exposure have to do with me?” Clara was confused.
At that moment, Archer’s phone rang. He snatched Clara’s phone from her hands and gave her a cold glare. “Stay out of trouble. If you’re thinking of causing more issues, even if Grandpa covers for you. I won’t let you off.”
Clara was speechless. “You must be seriously ill…”
Outside the room, Archer answered his phone, “Yes, what is it?”
“Mr. Dane, we’ve found the source of the leak. It was a private detective hired by Levi Corp, our competitors. They bribed the media and bought bots to amplify the scandal, aiming to sabotage our billion–dollar royal contract.
Archer was stunned; he had just furiously accused Clara of being cunning, and now the tables were turned.
“Levi Corp? Seems they’ve been too idle lately.”
“Mr. Dane, we’ve caught the operatives involved. What should we do with them?”
“Handle it as you see fit. I’ll deal with Levi Corp after I sort out this mess.”
“Understood.”
After hanging up. Archer’s expression was complex. He realized he had wronged her and felt a pang of guilt.
He made a quick call to his lawyer, “Mr. Ronan, draft a contract and bring it to the hospital…”

Clara, alter the shock, started browsing her phone for news about Dane Corp. The corporation had vast business interests across Aurevia, making the Dane family exceedingly wealthy and enviable.
Now, she understood why their conversations had always been off–kilter.
She had mistaken him for a gigolo, while he had misjudged her as she wanted his money.
She recalled that the company Isabella had contacted was also Dane Corp! Their connection seemed almost fatefully bizarre.
Her future husband had transformed from a gigolo to a corporate titan, and while Clara felt somewhat triumphant about the revelation, she was still irked by his recent misunderstanding.
Half an hour later, Archer returned to the hospital room with a smartly dressed man.
“Who is this?”
“Mr. Ronan. Show her the contract.”
Ronan nodded and handed Clara a document–it was a marriage contract.
“If you have any conditions, let Mr. Ronan know, and he’ll add them.”
Clara was taken aback, “Weren’t you disdainful of marrying me? Why are you suddenly eager to sign a contract?”
Archer’s face stiffened slightly, “I misunderstood you. The sabotage was by my competitors.”
Clara raised an eyebrow, “Oh, a misunderstanding, then? Why don’t you apologize?”
Archer, struggling to maintain his composure, coldly stared at her, yet she looked back defiantly..
Archer’s lips twitched, “I’m sorry.”
Clara playfully cupped her ear, “A mogul like you should speak up, not whisper like a mosquito.”
Archer narrowed his eyes, “Woman, don’t push it!”
When had he ever apologized to anyone? She was the first!
Clara smiled, “Now, you need something from me, and when you need something, you ought to ask nicely. I imagine those nasty comments online could cost you a billion…”
Archer laughed despite himself. This woman really had guts.
Their eyes met, sparks flying, the atmosphere shifting subtly once again….
