Chapter 23 Mr Dane’s Flirting Skills
As the stall escorted Sylvie out of the jewelry store, Archer wrapped an arm around Clara’s waist and said, “Let’s go look at wedding rings.”
Clara raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you even a little surprised by how I acted just now? Didn’t I seem scary?”
Archer smirked. “I thought you were adorable.”
Clara was speechless. Mr. Dane must have a very strange definition of adorable.
Meanwhile, Sylvie, being pushed out, shouted angrily, “Mr. Dane, don’t be fooled by Clara! She doesn’t love you–her heart belongs to her first love!”
Clara froze at the words. The mention of her first love was like a blade peeling away carefully buried memories. Her chest tightened painfully, and her face turned pale.
Archer noticed her discomfort, and though he didn’t realize it, his expression darkened briefly.
“Oh, really?” Archer said coldly. “Then tell him it doesn’t matter. She sleeps in my bed every. night.
Clara covered her face in embarrassment. What nonsense is he spouting?
The crowd was stunned, their jaws practically hitting the floor.
Archer tightened his grip around Clara’s waist, his face darkening with an emotion he refused to name. Without another word, he led her briskly to the VIP room.
“Archer, you’re hurting me,” Clara said, frowning. His pace was too fast, and his grip too firm.
Leaning close, Archer muttered in a low voice, “I’m warning you, stay away from your ex. If the media catches you, there will be consequences.”
Clara rolled her eyes. “Who doesn’t have an ex? Besides, I haven’t spoken to him in ages. Don’t tell. me you don’t have an ex?”
Archer’s steps faltered for a moment. Mira’s face flashed in his mind, but strangely, he felt nothing.
“Yes, I do,” he said coolly.
Hearing his admission, Clara felt an unexpected pang of sadness she couldn’t quite explain.
“Then can you guarantee you won’t reconnect with your ex? Because I can guarantee it for myself. When you demand something of others, you should hold yourself to the same standard.”
“Don’t push your luck, woman, Archer snapped.

Archer’s smirk deepened as he leaned down and kissed her. his movements slow and deliberate.

As the kiss grew more heated, the store manager and an assistant entered the VIP room with a tray of diamond wedding rings. They froze at the sight of the couple, their excitement over the moment, audible in a soft gasp.
Startled. Clara pushed Archer away, her face flushed red. Archer shot a cold glare at the staff. irritated by their interruption.
Leaning close to Clara’s car, he whispered. “If you keep provoking me. I’ll kiss you until you can’t breathe. Understood:”
Clara blushed even more. “Okay, okay, I get it.”
Though he had whispered, the VIP room was so quiet that the staff clearly heard him. Who knew the famously aloof Mr. Dane could be so seductive?
“Mr. Dane, Mrs. Dane,” the manager began carefully, “we’ve brought our largest diamond rings for you to choose from. Please take your
your time.”
“Let her pick, Archer said nonchalantly, sitting on the sofa and pulling out his phone to check work emails. “As long as she’s satisfied.”
Clara walked up to the tray and began examining the rings carefully.
Meanwhile, Sylvie, furious at being thrown out of the store, made a call to Victor. She asked for the number of Clara’s childhood sweetheart, the man her father had forbidden her to see when she was taken in by the Mae family.
“It’s time to bring him back, Sylvie muttered to herself.
An hour later, Clara selected a ring. This one.”
The manager beamed. “Excellent choice, Ms. Mae! This ring is a limited edition design by Alyssa. There’s only one set like it in the entire country. However, it is… quite expensive.”
Archer glanced up. “Are you implying I can’t afford it?”
“Not at all, Mr. Dane, the manager quickly clarified. “It’s just that Alyssa’s design costs a hundred million, and most customers pause to consider before making such a purchase.”
A hundred million for a pair of rings?
Archer stood, his curiosity piqued, and carefully examined the ring. What kind of design could possibly justify such a price?
