Chapter 29 The Sierra Valley Kidnapping Case
The two of them turned at the sound.
A woman stood before them, wearing a fisherman’s hat and a mask, so her face was hard to see. However, her eyes were striking… strangely familiar.
Clara asked, “Do you know her?”
Archer glanced at her coldly. “Mira, don’t you worry about making the headlines coming here??
The woman walked up to them and took off her mask.
She smiled gently at Clara, though a trace of jealousy hid in her eyes.
Clara, who had met many people, noticed the subtle emotion immediately.
Mira extended her hand. “Hi, I’m Archer’s girlfriend, Mira.”
Clara pondered. Girlfriend? Is she here to confront me directly?
“Hello, I’m Archer’s wife, Clara!”
Clara shook Mira’s hand. As they did, Mira suddenly tightened her grip, as if trying to crush Clara’s hand.
Clara raised an eyebrow and gripped back even harder.
Their hands made an audible crackling sound in the air as they silently competed.
Archer, seeing this, rubbed his temples in frustration. How long are you two going to keep this up? And Mira, watch your words! You’re my ex now!”
Mira looked hurt, and her grip loosened.
Clara also released her hand, though she could have broken it if she had pushed any further.
Mira, pouting, said, “Archer, I don’t want to upset you. I don’t want to keep going on about this. I just ran into you here by chance. We’re so lucky to meet like this. How about we grab a late–night snack together?”
Clara’s lips twitched. She looked Mira up and down, feeling like she had seen her before.
This woman was the same one from the office, the one who had thrown herself at Archer. It didn’t seem obvious in the video, but seeing her in person, Clara couldn’t shake the feeling that they had met somewhere before….
Archer coldly said, “I’m not eating. Clara, let’s go home.”

“Wait, don’t go. You can’t just leave without eating. the owner protested.

Clara raised an eyebrow. “Honey, let’s not waste food. Let’s eat first and then leave.”
Archer clearly didn’t want to be involved with Mira any longer, worried Clara might misunderstand. But he hadn’t expected her to stay on her own.
Somehow, this made him feel better inside.
Archer sighed. “Alright.”
Clara picked up a piece of meat and placed it in Archer’s bowl. “Honey, try this. The stir–fry here is also really good.”
Seeing Clara call him “honey, Mira felt a surge of jealousy, but forced a smile. “Ms. Mae, I remember Archer can’t eat spicy food.
Archer replied, “I’ve changed my taste.”
With that, he took a bite of the meat. Mira was seething with jealousy.
She put some vegetables into Archer’s bowl. “Archer, spicy food isn’t good for your stomach. Your should eat something lighter.
Archer moved his bowl away. “No need.”
Mira’s heart seemed to bleed.
Clara stared at Archer, suddenly realizing how attractive he was. Handsome, wealthy, able to stay calm when women threw themselves at him, and rejecting their advances with cold indifference…
A man like that was rare these days.
“Archer, I want to try that piece of meat. Can you put some in my bowl?” Mira asked.
Archer raised an eyebrow. “Can’t you get it yourself? Also, I remember you’re dieting. Can you eat meat now?
“Aww, Archer, I knew you still cared about me. You even remembered I shouldn’t eat too much…”
Clara and Archer were speechless.
“Ms. Mac, even though you’re married to Archer, I know it wasn’t his choice. He was kidnapped to Sierra Valley years ago, and I was the one who saved him from the bandits. We didn’t just fall in love–we shared a bond of life and death…”
Clara furrowed her brows, deep in thought. Sierra Valley? Kidnapping?
She suddenly remembered something and asked, “Corvella’s Sierra Valley? The kidnapping case from fifteen years ago?”
