Chapter 5 The Life-Saver

Clara was clearly surprised as well, “You’re his grandson?” Archer’s eyes were icy as he scoffed, “Really, you just can’t seem to leave me alone, can you? Did you even plot against my grandfather just to get close to me?” Clara looked at him as if he were foolish, “How dare you? I saved your grandfather, and you don’t even appreciate it, yet you bite back at me?” Archer half-squinted his eyes, “How convenient that it was my grandfather you saved, and not someone else?” Clara was full of question marks. Archer continued, “Meeting so many times in one day, do you call it fate, or are you just scheming?” Clara laughed in frustration, “Brains are a good thing, too bad you don’t have any!” Archer studied her with a probing gaze, closing in step by step, “Listen up, the last person who annoyed me has been silenced for decades.” He exuded a chilling presence, his gaze unfathomable, a powerful aura emanating from him. Unable to help herself, Clara stepped back, and in a push and pull, she was quickly cornered against the wall. “What are you doing…” Clara was overpowered by him. “I warn you, this is a society governed by law, and killing is illegal…” His look and aura were not those of a mere gigolo. Besides, she wasn’t sick, so where did the error lie? Archer held her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye, “Tell me, who sent you to get close to me.” Up close, their breaths intertwined, a hint of ambiguity in the air. Clara’s chin hurt from his grip, “It hurts, let go, what are you even talking about, why would I want to get close to you…” Archer smirked coldly, “Tell the truth!” Suddenly, his large hand clasped around her neck, lifting her up with one hand. “You’re crazy, you’ve ruined my reputation and now you’re framing me, how can you bully people like this… I really didn’t intentionally get close to you, let go…” Clara’s face turned red from lack of oxygen, tears of grievance in her eyes, she spoke with difficulty. Archer’s eyes darkened as he looked at her pitiful state, feeling an unexpected twinge of mercy, his grip loosened. With a thud, Clara fell to the ground. “Cough, cough, cough—” She gasped greedily for air. Archer took out a handkerchief to wipe his hands, stating coldly, “Still dare to be arrogant?” Clara felt this man was seriously ill. Seeing his cold gaze, thinking he was about to choke her again, she hurriedly waved her hands, “No thanks, I’m scared of you now, thanks for not killing me, I won’t bother you and your grandfather anymore, goodbye.” “Stop.” “Hmm?” Archer pulled out a check, “Take the money, it’s compensation I owe you, you deserve it!” “…” Clara didn’t want to take the money. “Too little?” “No…” She didn’t want to take the check, accepting it would make her feel like she was selling herself. At that moment, coughing came from the bed. “Cough, cough, cough, Archer…” “Grandfather.” Archer shoved the check into Clara’s hand and turned to attend to Cassian. Clara sighed, placing the check on the bedside table. Just as she was about to leave, Cassian’s eyes sparkled, “Young lady, thank you for saving me just now.” Clara smiled faintly, “It’s nothing, I couldn’t just stand by.” Archer glared at her, Clara caught his warning look and irritably rolled her eyes at him. Clara said, “Grandpa, you rest well, I’m heading home.” “Dear, I’m so grateful, if you’re willing, come and stay at my Dane Mansion for a few days, let me repay you.” “Ah, this…” Clara unconsciously looked towards Archer, who emitted a chilling warning vibe. Clara shivered and chuckled, “Grandpa, there’s no need for repayment, I’ll be leaving now, goodbye.” Actually, Cassian had been awake the whole time and had sensed the trick during their argument. He wanted to keep the girl around. If she were pregnant, I could soon be having a great-grandchild. As Clara was about to leave, Cassian clutched his chest, “I can’t even repay my debts, Archer, please help me keep the benefactor…”
