He knew exactly why his life had tanked.
In his past life, when he had everything, he embraced Stuart and Carmen like family. Now, with nothing left, he hated them for it.
His violent Streak nearly got him expelled from his special school. Only after Stuart and Carmen drained their savings and begged the right people did he manage to graduate.
Not that it mattered.
No one would hire him. Even convenience stores turned him away.
“He can wash dishes, I swear! No one scrubs a plate better than him–just give him a chance, please…”
From my seat in the corner, I sipped my drink, watching Stuart and Carmen grovel to the restaurant owner. Peter stood behind them, silent, his overgrown hair shadowing his hollowed–out face.
“Ew, Phoebe, look at that guy! His eyes are creepy…‘
A familiar, nosy voice.
Lily. Peter’s wife from his past life.
Beside her, Phoebe wrinkled her nose. “Ugh, what’s so interesting about a blind guy? Let me tell you, he–ahhh!”
History didn’t just repeat. It flipped.
This time, Lily hit the ground in a pool of blood.
Peter lunged at Phoebe next, knife flashing, eyes burning with unhinged rage.
He only managed to slash her arm before the crowd tackled him.
Pinned down, he thrashed and screamed, completely unraveling.

Chapter 11
I turned to Stuart and Carmen.
Their faces were hollow, aged beyond their years–like they’d already lived a lifetime of regret.
For the first time, I felt it–peace.
My new, carefree life had finally begun.
