Chapter 7
As soon as my relatives heard about everything Rachel had done, they avoided her even more than the plague itself.
After all, they were public figures who were still climbing the ladder of their careers. If they were associated with people like Rachel, it would most definitely affect their future or their livelihood as well.
I got into my car. The only person left behind at the crematorium was Rachel, holding her bleeding face as she chased after her parents‘ car. However, neither Uncle Patrick nor Aunt Florence dared to stop for her.
Rachel still had an elder brother and an elder sister, whom I heard were about to be promoted as the headmaster and headmistress of two separate schools. So, it made sense that Uncle Patrick and Aunt Florence would want to cut ties with a criminal daughter like Rachel.
On the way back, I noticed that Aaron kept following us. It reminded me of when I’d asked him for help at Dad’s funeral, but he was just too busy having fun with Rachel in the back seat of our car.
Even if Aaron now knew that what he did was wrong, there was no turning back for us.
After Mom’s funeral, I rented a tiny apartment next to the school where she taught and boarded before she passed away. .
I don’t know how Aaron caught wind of it, but he found my place and stopped me at my door.
“Katrina, the company is doing very badly. It’s just impossible without you.”
I looked at him faintly. “What? You want me to go back and help you now?”
Aaron shook his head quickly. “No. I’ve already sold off my shares as well. It wasn’t until the new partner came on that I realized I wasn’t allowed to create or design whatever product I wanted to or that anyone could market the products as well as you did.”
I looked back at him. “Then what are you doing here?”
Aaron looked at me gently.
“I’ve thought about it. In the five years we were married, you’ve been helping me with my dream and making it a reality.
“So, from now onward, I’ll be the one helping you with your dream and making it a reality, okay? Didn’t you say that you wanted to start a hospitality or travel company? I can help you!”
I stared at him silently. Aaron’s eyes were still as beautiful as ever, but they didn’t attract me anymore.
When I met his gaze, his Adam’s apple bobbed as he looked back at me intensely.
He took one step forward and was about to pull me into his embrace. I could feel his longing thirst.
However, I thought it was a pathetic joke. Wasn’t he the one who never let me touch him in the first place back then?
I pushed him away roughly.
Aaron looked back at me with hurt in his
