I
I laughed. I bet Aaron had already forgotten just how much I used to love him. I loved him and longed for him so much I could have carved his name into my bones if that was possible.
He was well aware of it, but he chose not to acknowledge it. He even refused to lay a finger on me.
Aaron seemed to have also remembered this. He looked at me with embarrassment and let out a self- mocking chuckle after stepping back.
“I deserved it. I’m sorry, Katrina.”
I couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and went back into my rented apartment.
Half a year later, I finally came to terms with Mom’s death.
I left with what money I had and opened up a travel company in Nevington.
Mom used to live here. I used to tell her that I would come home and start a travel business here once
she and Dad had both retired.
But now, I was the only one left.
Two weeks after I started the company, Aaron opened up a café right next to me. It was the brand of coffee that I liked the most.
However, he wasn’t the only café in the area that carried my favorite brand of coffee. I would rather take the long way and buy the same coffee at some other café than step foot inside his place.
A short while later, he made friends with my colleagues and told them that he was deeply in love with me. Every time someone from my company bought coffee from him, he would ask them to bring me a cup of coffee as well. However, I never took it and always gave it to someone else.
Still, that didn’t deter him from doing it every single day.
Aaron even managed to rent a unit on the same floor as mine, in the same housing area.
He would close up shop as soon as I got off from work
At first, I thought that he would eventually fail in his café venture because he wasn’t good at it. I even thought that he would lose money doing this and eventually close for good. However, for the next two years, he still wore his impeccable suit while grinding coffee at the coffee machines.
Plenty of young women were attracted to his handsome face, which made up the bulk of his customers. But when they asked him for his number, he would point at my office building and reply, “My girlfriend works there. She’s a fierce one.”
