Aiden.
People around them sighed with pity, saying, “A doomed relationship leads to a cursed outcome. But it’s the child who suffers the most.”
Aiden didn’t leave the research institute, but he was never reinstated to his former position. He remained a basic researcher ever since.
Skyla never went back to work after getting pregnant. Besides, after giving birth, there was no way she could. Even her parents moved from their hometown to take care of their disabled grandson.
Aiden, who now earned only 12 thousand dollars a month, had to support four adults and a child who needed constant therapy.
Meanwhile, I thrived. After reapplying for my position, I achieved the highest performance ranking in the company that year. My salary multiplied, and I now led a much bigger team.
