Lucy met my gaze and nodded. Though we were still strangers in many ways, I felt like she was the only one here who truly understood me
Ever since I was little, Mom and Dad had always told me to show kindness to others. But they also taught me not to be vulnerable, and to stay grounded in who I was.
Our family had always believed that good actions would be rewarded, and today, it felt like that belief was proven
true.
If it hadn’t been for Lucy, I could have easily been swayed by Wayne into becoming a “maid” for the Coopers, living a miserable life without even realizing it.
I approached Wayne.
