In the following days, Bradley always secretly hid outside the door.
Sometimes, he even played with his daughter through the glass. After his mother broke another thermos, I asked her to take the baby outside to sunbathe.
I let Bradley into the ward.
Bradley became much thinner, with his cheeks sunken.
“Paityn, please forgive me for the sake of our child.”
“I, Bradley, swear that I will never do anything to hurt Paityn again in the future. Paityn, believe me, I mean it!”
“When we grow old in the future, this matter will only be a small episode in our long life.”
I recovered well and was able to sit up by the bedside.
Looking at Bradley’s smug expression, I felt disgusted.
I told him word by word.
“Bradley, I had evidence of you having an affair with that woman, including transfer records and electronic bills.”
“If you did not agree to the divorce agreement, then we had no choice but to meet in court.”
The man’s show–off moment disappeared instantly, and he nervously grabbed my hand.

“But honey, we had a daughter, you can’t let our daughter be born without a father. Give me a chance, I will change, I will really change this time!”
I slowly pulled my hand back.
The attitude was resolute.
“No chance anymore, because I felt you were dirty.”
I raised my hand to interrupt his impending retort.
“If I am not mistaken, you have been recently applying for the position of regional manager. If at this time things get too ugly because of the divorce.”
“What would people in the company think of you?”
The person who always paid the most attention to manners knelt on the ground and wailed loudly.
I calmly told him amidst the loud applause.
“I have already signed the divorce agreement and put it in the study. Please sign it quickly.”
“My mother is coming back soon. You know her temper. If you don’t want to get beaten again, you better leave quickly.”
Over the next few days, I rested well in the hospital.
After being discharged from the hospital, she went straight to the confinement center.
The center had strict visitor records, and the burly security guard stopped Bradley from forcefully entering.
I enjoyed a rare tranquility.
One day, I received a package.
It was a beautifully packaged gift box.
I happily took it over, guessing it was a gift from a friend to my daughter.
I carefully unpacked it.
Unraveling the pink ribbon, tearing off layer after layer of wrapping paper.
After opening the lid, a strong pungent smell of blood rushed out, and I heard the nanny’s scream behind me.

I gritted my teeth and stared at the things inside the box.
A young rabbit.
A dead young rabbit.
The snow–white fur had already been stained red with blood. I held my breath and dialed Bradley’s phone number.
The man came quickly.
He pushed the door open and looked at me cautiously.
“Paityn, you finally agreed to see me.”
“I…”
I raised my hand to interrupt him.
He looked at the gift box on the table. After a long time, I finally heard the man’s gloomy voice.
“Who sent it?”
“Who else could it be, of course it’s your little lover.”
“Bradley, my daughter has only been in this world for sixteen days, and she has already received such a malicious curse. You may not love her, but as her father, you must never bring disaster upon her!”
“This afternoon, I was supposed to receive the divorce agreement. Otherwise, tomorrow I would go to court and file a lawsuit directly!”
I calmly watched the man I had loved for many years, thinking that he would be the one I would grow old with, but in the end, he betrayed me in the dirtiest way.
The end of a marriage turned out to be a complete mess.
