Chapter 4
As soon as she saw him, Maleah approached him and asked, “How was it? Did you retrieve it?”
The person’s face showed a difficult expression. “No.”
“How is that possible?” Maleah screamed, “Did you not search properly?”
“I searched through it all, and the people in the company said, said…” the person answered, glancing towards me as they spoke.
“You don’t have to be afraid of her,” Claire noticed the clues, “What do people in the company say?”
“Madam said she had already burned those things.”
“Oh, it’s my fault,” I spoke up, “I didn’t mean to burn Roland’s things out of fear of reminiscing. But I didn’t see any paternity test inside either.”
Maleah’s face turned dark, and she lunged at me, ready to hit me.
“Valeria, you wicked woman! You did it on purpose, you didn’t want my son to come home!”
She looked terrifying, which scared me so much that my bodyguard quickly stood in front of me.
“Maleah, don’t act like a mad dog. Don’t say that I didn’t see that paternity test. Even if I did see it, how can you prove that it’s real?”
“You didn’t even retrieve Roland’s body, how can I prove that it’s true,” Maleah shouted, “Valeria, you are such a despicable person, you want to keep Roland’s inheritance all to yourself.”
Claire originally didn’t know that Roland died in the sea because I prevented the retrieval. As soon as she cried, everyone knew.
Claire’s face turned dark. “Why didn’t you save my son? You couldn’t even ensure his safe landing on the ground. What makes you deserve to inherit his legacy?”
“Because I am his wife,” I laughed, “Mom, why are you talking to a stranger?”
“She was the mother of my grandson, not some outsider. You didn’t even give birth to a child; you are the outsider. Return all the money of my son.”
“Mom,” I shouted, stopping the crazed Claire, “do you know why I haven’t had children for so many years?”
“It’s because you have done too many bad things that you cannot give birth.”
“I indeed couldn’t bear children,” I coldly chuckled, “but it wasn’t me who couldn’t bear them.”
“What do you mean?” Claire froze, “It couldn’t possibly be my son.”
“Yes, it’s true that Roland cannot have children,” I clapped my hands, and immediately someone handed me a file folder. “Family matters should not be made public, and I originally didn’t plan to reveal this, but you all kept pushing me, so I can only apologize to Roland. These are his medical examination reports from the past ten years. He has been infertile since ten years ago. How could Maleah have children with him?”
Claire opened the file bag and the papers inside fell out.
Maleah picked up the paper and looked at it again and again. Her face turned pale instantly, and she kept shaking her head.
“It was impossible, this was fake.”
“There is also a hospital seal on it. If you don’t believe it, you can go to the hospital to confirm.”
Maleah saw Claire reaching out to hold her hand again, but Claire frowned and quickly pulled her hand away, looking at the medical reports.
I pretended to shed a few tears, turned to my relatives, and said, “I’m sorry for making everyone watch the spectacle. The funeral ends here, you can all leave.”
When everyone left, their faces were filled with the joy of having eaten a mind–blowing melon and couldn’t wait to share it.
I also stopped caring about those three people and walked away wearing sunglasses. However, in a few days, I received a lawyer’s letter from Maleah.
It was about the issue of Roland’s inheritance division. Maleah’s child should also have a share of the inheritance, so Maleah filed a lawsuit.
A few days later, I received a notice for pre–trial mediation, instructing me to arrive on time.
I was furious when I received it.
I directly called my lawyer and questioned why Maleah hasn’t been brought to court yet, as she filed a lawsuit against me and initiated mediation before I did.

The lawyer explained to me for a long time, but I didn’t understand much. The general idea is that there are two systems, and they handle things normally on her side first.
I reluctantly attended the pre–trial mediation.
Maleah said, “Caleb is Roland’s child.”
I said, “Roland cannot give birth, I have a medical examination report.”
“Your medical report stated that the sperm motility is low, but it doesn’t mean there is no activity. The doctor said there is still a possibility of conception.” Maleah looked smug, with a hint of a smile in the corner of her eyes. “Please make sure to do thorough research next time.”
“Oh, so what?” I yawned lazily, “Do you have any evidence to prove that this child is Roland’s?”
“Of course.” Maleah slapped a paper on the table. “This is the paternity test between Caleb and his grandfather. It proves that my son is biologically related to Roland’s father. Roland’s father only has one child, Roland, so Caleb is the Hanson family’s child.”
I glanced at the lawyer, and the lawyer kindly reminded her, “This doesn’t count.”
Claire slammed the table and exclaimed, “Why isn’t it counted? Valeria, you are too narrow–minded. This child is the seed of my son, and it is only natural for him to inherit my son’s money. So what if he is a bastard? It’s normal for men to have a few affairs outside. Besides, this child is not only Roland’s but also yours. Having a child is such a blessing.”
I laughed and said, “Mom, don’t get so excited. The court is asking for a paternity test. What does paternity mean? It means the relationship between a father and a son. Besides, Mom, don’t you know that Dad actually has another son?”
Claire was stunned, and I directly pulled out a paternity test.
“I didn’t want to say it originally, but I didn’t expect you, Claire, to side with a stranger. I also don’t want to cover up for Dayton anymore. This is the paternity report of his other child that he asked Roland to handle before.”
I took out the photos and videos again.
“This is a photo and video of that child. Now he and his mother, Kristina Melton, live in Caveburn Villa in Dayton. Dayton goes there twice a week. There are a lot of nannies and bodyguards there. The chef is hired from a state banquet. I have eaten there once, oh… the taste was amazing.”
The more I spoke, the darker Claire’s face became, but I didn’t forget to advise her, “Claire, you mustn’t be narrow–minded. It’s normal for men to have several people outside. This child is not just Dayton’s, but also yours. Having a child is a great happiness.”
I returned Claire’s words to her as she had told me.
Claire went completely crazy, slamming the table and wanting to leave.
I laughed so hard and said to her back, “Let’s go, we haven’t finished mediating yet.”
