Chapter 17
Richard was at a loss for words. He’d been busy with work at the company and hadn’t been at the villa to oversee things, only to return and find a disaster waiting for him.
He turned to Leslie and asked sharply, “What exactly did you do today while you were home?”
Leslie’s face turned pale, panic flashing in her eyes. “I–I just wanted Alan to recover faster, so I added some medicine to his food..”
She looked up at Richard, clutching his sleeve with trembling hands as she rushed to explain, “I didn’t know things would turn out like this!”
If she had known this would worsen Alan’s condition, she would never have done it.
Richard felt his blood boil. He raised his hand to slap her but paused and clenched his fist tightly instead. He dropped his hand and scoffed angrily, “You…
Richard silently cursed her for ruining everything. If Suzanne wasn’t there, he might’ve lost control.
Leslie flinched, shrinking back as tears welled up in her eyes. Despite her fear, she cling to Richard’s arm and cried our desperately, “Our son’s going to be alright, right?”
She would never forgive herself if anything happened to Alan
Richard shot her a furious glare but didn’t answer. Instead, his eyes turned to Alan’s bod
Seeing his silence, Leslie dared not speak again. She stood nervously to the side, her heart pounding with dread.
Suzanne, however, had no time for them. Her full attention was on Alan
Her hands moved quickly as she inserted more and more needles. Alan’s flushed, reddened face slowly began to return to normal, the change visible to the naked eye
Suzanne exhaled deeply. She grabbed a tissue from the bedside table to wipe the sweat from her forehead before continuing with unwavering focus
Alan, who had been thrashing violently, gradually calmed. The bulging veins across his body began to subside. An hour later, the symptoms were

After removing the final needle, Suzanne tumed to Joe and instructed, “You can untie him now
Joe’s face it up with relief. He quickly moved to undo Alan’s restraints.
Alan’s wrists were red and bleeding slightly from his previous struggles. Suzanne tended to the wounds with care before finally standing up
Richard immediately stepped forward, his face filled with concem.
“Dr. Smith, how is he?”
Leslie instinctively clutched the hem of her clothes, her eyes fixed on Suzanne with nervous anticipation.
Pressing her fingers to her aching temple, Suzanne looked at Richard and gave a stem warming. The amount of medicine he consumed this time wasn’t too much. If it had been any more, no one would’ve been able to save him.”
Her gaze shifted to Leslie, and she snapped coldly, “If this happens again, you’ll need to find another doctor! When I treat a patient, my instructions must be followed to the letter. No exceptions.”
Doubting her was one thing, but ignoring her medical advice was equivalent to attempted murder.
Leslie froze, realizing the gravity of what had just happened. The image of her son’s earlier state was seared into her mind, leaving her shaken and
