Chapter 36
Suzanne calmly picked up the teacup as she softly said, “All done” With her words, she gracefully poured tea for Felicia
“Here, Mrs. Hall,” she said with a gentle smile.
When she completed the final step, her lips parted as she added, “Enjoy your tea”
The teacup clinked gently against the table.
Suddenly, the door to the room flew open.
Suzanne
e glanced up and saw Yasmine’s icy expression
Dressed in a sleek business suit with her long hair neatly pinned back, Yasmine radiated authority. It was clear she had come straight from work. Her flawless makeup, expensive jewelry, and striking resemblance to Felicia made her impossible to ignore.
Felicia’s expression immediately darkened. “What are you doing, Yasmine?”
Yasmine strode in and stopped in front of Suzanne. Looking down at her with an air of superiority, she said, “I heard Austin brought home a girlfriend. Mom, why didn’t you bother giving us a heads–up?”
Felicia’s expression grew even more severe.
She was sure that Yasmine was doing this on purpose. They had already set their sights on the heiress of the Chapman family. There was no way they’d accept Suzanne into the family, So, why would she bother telling them?
Yet somehow, the news had still gotten out.
auzanne acted as though she hadn’t heard the tension outside. Rising to her feet, she greeted Yasmine politely, “Nice to meet you, Ms. Hall,”
Yasmine glanced at Suzanne indifferently before walking over to the tea table and sitting down beside Felicia. She picked up a teacup and tapped it lightly before saying coolly, “You don’t belong in our family. Surely, you know that much ”
Felicia’s expression darkened. This damned daughter of hers!
She shot Yastnine a waming glare “Yasmine!”
Felicia turned instinctively to Suzanne, expecting a reaction, but she remained composed. Her expression was calm and unbothered
Felicia was slightly surprised. She felt that Suzanne had remarkable poise.
Yasmine’s face twisted with displeasure. She opened her mouth, ready to speak again, but ultimately decided against it.
The mood in the mom grew tense.
Just then, Austin stepped in from outside. Everyone’s gaze turned toward him.
He cast a glance at Suzanne, his eyes unwavering. Suzanne Troze for a moment. Was he silently telling her not to worry and that he was on her side?
Austin placed a box on the table in front of Felicia, then looked straight at Yesmine. His voice was firm as he said, “She’s my wife, Yasmine. I’d appreciate it if you could understand that and show some respect.”
H
Suzanne stared at him, momentarily stummed She hadn’t expected Austin to stand up to his family for her like this.
Felicia’s eyes lit up, and her lips curled into a broad smile. That was her son!
Yasmine’s face turned icy. She glared at Austin and snapped, “Over the years, how many of your decisions have I interfered with? If I’m stepping in, it’s because I know something isn’t good for you!”
Suzanne glanced at Yasmine. Her words did male some sense. After all, Suzanne was the disowned daughter of the Yates family, with a tamished repuration. She wasn’t exactly a great match for Austin
Yasmine seemed to sense Suzanne’s gaze and turned to her with a cold sneer. “A woman always Imows another women best. She grew up without her mother’s guidance. It’s no wonder she’s full of scheming thoughts!”
She had seen this type before–women who used their looks to latch onto a man and climb their way to the rop
Suddenly, Felicia slammed her hand against the table. The sudden sound drew everyone’s atte She opened her mouth to argue, but Felicia pointed toward the door with an ironclad glare. “Get out, Yasmine!”
Yasmine’s expression shifted slightly.
