Chapter 46
Henry’s expression darkened even further as he approached Suzanne. Meanwhile, Manch helped Seline up from the floor, and the two of them settled back onto the couch.
Suzanne smiled butterly.
Yes, she was the ungrateful one. In Henry’s eyes, she would always be the worst daughter.
Henry shot her a cold glare. “Since you’re back, stay here. You’ll have dinner with the Lloyds tomorrow.”
His tone was firm, showing no intention of consulting Suzanne. The decision was a foregone conclusion.
Mandy’s and Selme’s eyes glinted with amusement. As long as Henry had spoken, even if Suzanne didn’t want to go meet the Lloyd family, she would have no choice but to comply.
Rubbing her waist, Seline gritted her teeth in anger. She was only tolerating Suzanne for now because she needed her cooperation. But once Suzanne married Todd, things wouldn’t be so easy for her.
Suzanne’s eyes were filled with disappointment as she stared at Henry. How could he say all this so casually? The man in question was Todd!
Her hands clenched toto fists as she fought to keep her rage in check. She raised her gaze to meet Henry’s eyes and asked, “Don’t you know what kind of person Todd is? Am I really your daughter?”
She locked her eyes on his, hoping to find even the smallest hint of love or regret in them. But there was nothing. It was just a foolish hope on her part.
At that moment, Suzanne felt like she had been thrown into an icy abyss
Henry’s gaze darkened, and his disapproval was clear as he snapped at her, “Stop being ridiculous! Todd promised me he’ll take good care of you if you marry him.”
Suzanne let out a bitter laugh. Henry was truly throwing her under the bus without any carr
She slowly lowered her eyes, trying to hide the pain in them. Her voice came out deep and controlled as she said, “I just want to ask you one thing–have you ever loved me?”
As a child, Suzanne had watched her peers‘ fathers dote on them. They would take them on outings while holding their hands. But Henry had always been cold, distant, and fall of criticism
Suzanne thought that if she worked hard and achieved top grades, maybe Henry would finally show her some affection and take her out for a change. But oven when she ranked first in class and first in her year, Henry never paid her any attention.
After Karlee died and Mandy and Seline came into the picture, Henry became even more indifferent. Seline got everything Suzanne had longed for effortlessly. She was the family’s princess while Suzanne.
Every situation screamed that Henry had never cared about her.
Just then, Henry’s face twisted with anger as be slammed his hand down on the table. The cups rattled loudly, and the sound echoed through the room
Henry scolded her coldly, “Are you done? [[] didn’t love you, would I have arranged for you to marry into a powerful family like the Lloyds?”
Suzanne had always been a handful, always opposing him. The Lloyd family had agreed to work with him. If she didn’t marry Todd, all their plans would fall apart
Henry pointed at Suzanne and said in a softer rone to persuade her, “The Lloyd family is incredibly rich. If you marry Todd, you’ll be Mrs. Lloyd and live a life of luxury. What’s so bad about that?”
Suzanne stood frozen as she stared at Henry in disbebet.
