Chapter 67
If Jenson dared to lean even just another inch forward, Suzanne was going to beat him up for sure!
Seline froze. She quickly disguised her anger as panic and hurried to defend herself.
“What are you saying, Sue?” she retorted. Her tone, however, sounded shy and coquettish.
In her mind, she chuckled coldly. At least Suzanne wasn’t a complete fool.
Still, everyone managed to get what Seline meant.
Marsha looked at Suzanne in shock. Suzanne used to be head over heels for Jenson, but here she was denying their relationship and turning down a chance to play a game with him!
Jenson narrowed his eyes slightly. Suzanne’s strategy was rather impressive.
In a split second, however, he managed to keep his emotions in check. He turned to look at the others and sighed helplessly. “Well, I hate to disappoint everyone, but I can’t possibly go kiss another woman while Suzanne’s still upset with me.”
The others immediately lost interest. After all that suspense, the two of them were still together.
It seemed like a boring old lovers‘ spat.
Seline, on the other hand, was about to explode.
That bitch! How could Suzanne do that?
Seline wanted to scream.
Suzanne had purposely called out the fact that Seline liked Jenson. That clearly meant she was trying to show how much better she was than Seline! After all, why would Jenson still refuse to kiss Seline even after Suzanne turned him down?
Jenson picked up the liquor on the table and downed it all in one gulp as a punishment. However, he was staring at Suzanne with a chilling gaze.
At that very moment, a high–class limousine slowed to a stop in front of the crowded club. The door opened, and a pair of long legs stepped out.
Austin had a cold expression on his face and an incredibly intimidating demeanor. His gaze swept across the flashy bar as his lips pressed into a thin line.
Inside the club, the loud, pumping bass of the music electrified the atmosphere, causing the crowd’s hearts to start pumping along to the beat.
Austin frowned slightly. He controlled his annoyance and walked toward the innermost booth. He had only gone to the bar to meet some friends.
When he reached the outside of the booth, the door swung open before Austin could even touch the door handle.
He immediately stopped in his tracks.
Charles Jennings‘ handsome face was lit up with a big smile. When he saw Austin, his clear gaze shone with joy.
He immediately jumped towards him and yelled excitedly, “Austin! I can’t believe we finally manifested your appearance!”
They had all tried to invite him to join their gatherings before, but he had repeatedly turned them down.
Austin pulled his hand away and pressed a finger against Charles‘ forehead, pushing him aside with clear distaste in his gaze.
“Stay away from me.”
Charles looked cool and rugged in his jacket, but he seemed like an obedient puppy in front of Austin.
His personal style completely contrasted with his personality—even though he dressed like a fun–loving playboy, he was one of the country’s top cardiologists.
Many patients wanted to get appointments with him, but it was nearly impossible.
Charles looked at Austin with a bright smile, but he didn’t try to jump on Austin again.
Instead, he turned and pushed open the door to the booth as he bowed slightly, welcoming Austin’s arrival. “Welcome, Austin.”
Austin simply glanced at him before walking into the booth.
Four other men in the booth began to tease Charles at the sight of his clownish act. “Isaac, this waiter’s not very good. Where are the pretty ladies you called for us?”
Charles immediately glared at the person who said that. In a self–righteous tone, he said, “Quit it, rat. I’m a doctor. I’m supposed to be a good example for the nation. How could I do something like that?”
Instinctively, however, his gaze flitted in Austin’s direction.
They all purposely brought up the fact that Austin hated going to places like clubs.
However, none of them believed Charles and broke into a flurry of curses and laughter, filling the booth with their joy.
