Chapter 78
Charles anxiously scratched his head as he glanced at the suit jacket draped over Suzanne’s shoulders.
Sure, Dudore nights were chilly, but it was warm inside the bar. How could she bear to keep the jacket on in this heat?
Stepping forward, he smiled warmly at Suzanne. “It’s really hot in here. Why don’t you take off the jacket?”
However, the moment Charles‘ hand touched the jacket on Suzanne’s body, Austin’s cold, sharp gaze cut into him like a knife. Frightened, Charles reted two steps back, not daring to touch her jacket again.
Then, Austin’s cold voice sounded. “This is my wife.”
“What?” Charles thought he had misheard. His eyes widened in disbelief as he glanced at Austin, only to find he was completely serious.
At that moment, Suzanne walked over to Austin and sat down beside him with a calm smile.
Charles stared at the couple in disbelief. It felt as if his whole world had come crashing down. He slumped onto a stool, despair written all over his face.” What? I haven’t even fallen in love, and I’m already heartbroken!”
He had finally found a woman he liked, only to discover that it was his friend’s wife! Who could handle that? Who could possibly understand this kind of pain?
Herman’s eyes sparkled with growing amusement as he watched the scene unfold.
Realization finally set in, and Charles stormed over to Herman, glaring at him as he asked, “You knew all along, didn’t you?”
Herman didn’t even try to hide it. He mocked, “It’s your own fault for being stupid.”
Austin was perpetually cold and indifferent. Why would he just randomly give his jacket to some randorn woman?
From the moment Austin saw Suzanne, the temperature around him seemed to drop to a freezing point. That was when Herman realized she was Austin’s
wite
And yet, the brainless Charles was doing his
best to woo her.
Charles buried his face in Herman’s arm and cried, “Shit! I can’t face anyone anymore! This is too embarrassing!”
He had actually flirted with Austin’s wife… in front of Austin
Charles wanted to give himself two hard slaps..
Herman pushed him away disdainfully. “Go cry somewhere else.”
In the private booth, the group began introducing themselves.
Herman looked at Suzanne with a friendly smile. “Hello, I’m Herman Gunn.”
Although a handshake was common courtesy, no one even considered it, knowing Austin’s demeanor.
Suzanne nodded lightly. “Hello, I’m Suzanne Yates.”
She was poised and confident, even in the presence of some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names. Her strong temperament was evident.
Herman’s bright eyes studied her before casually asking, “Suzanne, what brings you here tonight?”
Judging by Austin’s reaction earlier, Herman guessed that he hadn’t seen Suzanne’s dance performance until just now.
Before she could respond, a drink suddenly appeared in front of her. She looked up to see Austin, who simply said calmly, “Drink this.
He could smell the faint alcoholic scent on her and guessed that she had quite a few drinks earlier.
Suzanne accepted the drink without hesitation, then glanced at Herman, explaining, “A friend invited me out tonight. I happened to be free, so I came to
have fun.”
The others nodded in understanding
Meanwhile, Charles was still slumped against Herman’s arm, walling, “How could such an incredible woman end up with such a cold, unromantle mun like Austin?
