Chapter 94
Suzanne, with a calm expression and a slight smile, merely answered, “The one and only.”
Once Suzanne was done, she heard Yasmine say.
“Thank you.”
Her voice was low and clearly awkward, as she had just insulted Suzanne so harshly.
Suzanne replied with a faint smile, “No need to thank me.”
She was very polite when she spoke.
She didn’t mind Yasmine’s awkwardness and tumed to walk toward Timothy.
Suzanne stood in front of Timothy, but be awkwardly looked away, not saying a word.
She couldn’t care less about his response as she stepped forward and raised her hand.
When the silver needle was removed, Timothy was momentarily stunned. He furrowed his brows, his mind filled with confusion.
Why did he feel better than before? His body was lighter, though his arm, which had been raised, was sore.
He instinctively looked at Suzanne, only to find her carefully putting away the silver needles.
Meanwhile, outside the room, Felicia anxiously held Emma’s hand. They were standing by the door, eager to know what was happening inside but hesitant to interrupt the treatment,
Emma looked up at Felicia, her soft voice comforting her, “Grandma, since Aunt Suzanne is so amazing, Mommy will be fine.”
A five–year–old child understood more than one might have thought
Emma’s comforting words warmed Felicia’s heart. Felicia crouched down to adjust Emma’s slightly rolled–up collar. With a firm voice, she answered, Yeah. Your mommy will definitely be alright.”
Although Emma’s words gave her some relief, the worry in her heart remained.
Allowing Suzanne to treat Yasmine felt like a risky gamb
gamble.
Emma then pressed her soft cheek against Felicia’s, remarking, “Grandma, our teacher says that good things will only happen if we stay happy.” Felicia felt a pang of sorrow at those words, but she forced a stiff smile and nodded seriously at Emma. “Yes. I will take your teacher’s advice.”
How could she extinguish the hope in Emma’s heart? Painful matters should only be borne by the adults.
Glancing down the corridor, Felicia softly asked, “Where’s your father?”
She had been so focused on the room earlier that she hadn’t noticed anyone nearby. Right then, she spotted Austin standing off to one side. Emma pointed down the hallway. “Daddy said he was going for a smoke.”
Felicia was momentarily stunned, but just then, Aaron quickly appeared around the corner, his face filled with anxiety.
When he reached them, he said in a low voice, “I’ll go in and check.”
As Aaron said this, his hand was already on the doorknob. Austin, however, reached out to stop him. “You can’t go in yet.”
It had already been so long. They couldn’t risk undoing Suzanne’s work now.
Aaron pushed Austin’s hand aside, his agitation growing “Move aside!”
The usually gentle and composed Aaron ignored Austin’s obstruction as he tried to rush in.
He was regretting his earlier decision now. What if Suzanne didn’t know what she was doing and ended up harming Yasmine?
Seeing the two of them argue, Felicia stepped forward and scolded, “Both of you, calm down!”
Emina, frightened, clutched Felicia’s hand tightly and hid behind her.
Austin’s expression turned cold as he looked at Aaron. The moment Austin placed his arm on Aaron’s shoulder to stop him, the door to the room suddenly opened
