Chapter 6
As soon as I woke up in the morning, I saw a message from Quentin: [I’m heading to Marina Sands to take you home.]
I jumped out of bed in surprise.
He had indeed come.
His hair was slightly messy, there were faint dark circles under his eyes, and he no longer had the refined air he usually carried.
He looked like a man who had just rolled out of bed yet it looked charming to me.
He was exactly the kind of man that parents would approve of at the first meeting.
He had the perfect combination of a good family background, great looks, and, more importantly, a good heart.
How had I never noticed how amazing he was before?
Quentin seemed a bit embarrassed by my gaze and scratched his head.
“I stayed up late last night, and I woke up early today, so I look a little rough.”
I immediately zeroed in on the key detail in his words and asked, “Did you stay up late because you were settling
the little ones?”
“Mm, they’re all fine. Don’t worry. They miss you too, so that’s why I came to pick you up early this morning.”
The word “too” made my heart flutter.
Once we boarded the plane, I noticed it was the Langleys‘ private jet.
The luxurious décor, coupled with the soft sofa I sank into, made me feel more relaxed than I had ever been.
A sudden ringing pulled me out of my thoughts.
It was a call from Justin.
Quentin noticed the incoming call and made a face.
“Answer it. Some things need to be cleared up.”
With that, he strode into another room in the cabin.
I answered the call.
Justin’s voice blared through the phone, almost deafening.
“Where’s your luggage, Viola? Have you run away from home?”
