Chapter 109
Joanna was at a loss for words. She tightly clamped her jaw, unwilling to leave the company but unsure of what to say to save the situation.
Instinctively, she looked at Hayden, her eyes filled with tears, hoping for help.
1 crushed her hopes before she could even speak. “Mr. Parker, I assume you won’t play favorites this time, right?”
With that question, all eyes turned to Hayden.
He just looked at me without saying a word.
Time ticked away.
It had been so long that Joanna was getting impatient. Her voice choked up as she was about to cry. “Hayden, I don’t want to leave you… boohoo…”
Zachary was watching the drama unfold from the sidelines, and neither Dylan nor Stanley spoke up; it was as if everyone had turned invisible at
that moment.
I stared at Hayden, not budging an inch.
When it came to matters of the heart, I lost without a fight.
But in business, I had no reason to fail.
After what felt like forever, Hayden finally turned to Joanna and said, “You don’t need to come to the office starting tomorrow.”
With that one sentence, today’s issue was concluded.
The tears that had been welling up in Joanna’s eyes finally fell.
She wanted to say more, but Hayden had already turned and left.
“Hayden.” Unwilling to give up, she chased after him.
I chuckled coldly inwardly and then looked up at Stanley. “Stanley, thanks a lot for today.”
“No worries. Stanley gave me a small smile, his eyes full of affection.
“Senior, we’ll be heading off; don’t want to disturb you anymore.” Dylan waved at me as he left with Martin and Stanley.
As soon as they left, Zachary walked up behind me, openly complimenting me. “I’m really more and more impressed by you; today’s events flowed seamlessly. You must have planned it for a while, right?”
“Mr. Swanson, you flattered me,” I replied casually, with a faint smile.
“Your expression really looks like that of Mr. Parker,” Zachary teased, then laughed. “But I only just realized how important you are to him.”
“What?” I thought I heard him wrong. He must be talking nonsense.
But the smile on his face stayed as he switched the topic. “Now that you’ve got the full rights to the shares of the Parker Group, when do you have time to discuss the price with me?”
I raised my eyebrows and asked with a light smile. “How can you be so sure that I’ll sell you the shares?”
“Is there anyone else who can offer a price as high as mine?” Zachary was quite confident.
In terms of wealth, only the Parker family surpasses him in Elysiumville.
I just smiled and stayed silent. He soon figured it out, his smile suddenly freezing. “You wouldn’t still want to sell them to Hayden, would you? After everything he’s done to you, you can’t still love him, right?”
“I can differentiate between love and money.” I corrected the mistake in his words.
Since there was no love anymore, having more money wasn’t a bad thing.
After all, no one would turn down money.

Chapter 109
Zachary’s gaze became increasingly sinister as he watched me.
“So, how much do you want?”
I wasn’t scared and just gave a calm smile. “I haven’t decided yet. Let’s talk about it later.”
With that said, I went straight back to the secretary’s office.
Richard had just returned, his face full of joy and excitement as he said, “Congratulations, Mrs. Parker. I just heard you handled the situation perfectly. Even Mr. Parker was very impressed with how you dealt with it.”
“You found it out in such a short time?” I asked, confused.
“It’s already all over the group chat of the company,” Richard said while scrolling through his phone. “Everyone’s totally on your side, saying you were great for getting rid of the mistress. They even said…”
As soon as he said that, he realized he’d said something he shouldn’t have, his expression turning slightly awkward as he quickly put his phone
away.
I jokingly shrugged it off, saying, “She just quits her job. It’s not liking that she would disappear from Hayden’s side. Besides, whatever happens between them, I don’t really care anymore.”
“Huh?” Richard looked slightly surprised.
I wasn’t really keen on continuing the conversation, so I switched topics. “I’ve got some things to him the contract for the Joyland Property?”
With that, I handed over two copies of the contract.

As Richard took them, he asked, “Have you been really busy recently, Mrs. Parker?”
He probably noticed I hadn’t been in the office much lately…
I didn’t bother explaining and just said, “Just busy today. I’m going to visit my mom.”
“I see. You should go early then, leave these to me,” Richard said with a smile,
After quickly handling a few things at the office, I left to buy some flowers and my mom’s favorite pastries before heading straight to the cemetery. The morning had been bright and sunny, but by afternoon, dark clouds had gathered, and thunder was rumbling om
As I climbed the hill with the flowers, a fine, steady rain began to fall.
Fortunately, I had a black umbrella with me, or I’d be soaked to the skin.
Mom’s ashes were buried in a spot halfway up the hill, a location I chose myself.
It was near a lavender field, her favorite flower when she was alive. I thought she would like it.
“Mom, are you upset with me for not having a funeral for you?” I gently placed the flowers in front of her tombstone and asked.
Even though I tried hard to suppress my emotions, my voice still had a slight tremble.
“That day, when I told Dad I’d have a funeral for you, it was just to provoke him. So much time has passed since then. I know gatherings, and honestly… I don’t have much time myself,” I murmured.

I sighed, sitting next to Mom’s grave with an umbrella, bringing out her favorite pastries. “Lucy said she wanted to come too, and I didn’t refuse. You always enjoyed seeing her. Rest assured, I have a good relationship with all my friends,” I added.
I talked to myself for quite a while without realizing that the rain was getting heavier…
The raindrops tapping on the umbrella created a peculiar kind of white noise.
I was so caught up in missing my mom that I didn’t notice a black umbrella slowly getting closer from not too far
away.
Hayden held the umbrella in his right hand, gradually slowing down his pace until he finally stopped.
He stood watching from afar, looking at the frail figure leaning against the gravestone. It felt like a part of his heart was missing, and the cold wind howling and wailing, piercing through, was almost unbearable…

He had been standing there long before Twy arrived.
“Oh. Thadn’t though it was you I never imagined you’d show up here,” Lucy snorted, looking at Hayden with disdain.
Almost everyone seemed so like his cold and aloof CEO vibe, calling it all sorts of names like “forbidding charm…

Lacy thought. He is cold and emotionless. What’s so good about that?
Hayden didn’t need to turn around to know who was coming.
Only Yvonne and the people with her dared to speak to him like this.
See that Yvonne missed the last chance to see her mom because of you. What were you doing at the time? Getting cozy with Joanna, right?” Lucy mocked him without mercy.
