Chapter 141
“Mrs. Parker said you love beef stew. She asked me to bring some for you,” Rita said calmly.
Actually, I knew Deborah wanted her to come back and keep an eye on Hayden and me.
If the Parker family knew I was pregnant, they would never let me take this baby away with me.
I had to be careful in these final days.
Thank you, and please thank Grandma for me, I said with a slight nod.
“Mrs. Parker, I heard that Mr. Parker slept in the guest room last night?” Rita asked.
I narrowed my eyes slightly. The servants must have told her.
Seeing that I remained silent, Rita sighed again, “Don’t blame the maid for gossiping. Mr. Parker wants what’s best for you. I can tell. No matter what, please give him a chance…” She advised me earnestly.
If it had been before. I definitely wouldn’t have listened to a single word.
But now, I still had to hide the fact that I was pregnant, so I couldn’t act too excited.
So I nodded peacefully. “Okay.”
My obedience surprised Rita a little, and she stared at me for a long while.
“Anything else?” I reminded her to come back to her senses.
“No.” Rita nodded repeatedly, then turned and left.
After she left, I sighed softly and reached out to touch my belly,
So far, my belly hadn’t grown at all. After knowing the existence of the child, I always wanted to touch it unconsciously.
Maybe this was the only way to communicate with that child.
“I wonder if you like beef stew as much as I do…” I muttered to myself as if I had accepted the child’s existence.
I couldn’t explain it, but I felt like I was not alone anymore, like someone would always be with me.
Rita seemed to hear someone talking in the room as she closed the door and went out. She couldn’t help but wonder, “Is Mrs. Parker on the phone!”
As soon as she turned around, she saw Hayden coming back.
“Mr. Parker?” Rita’s face was full of surprise. She had noticed that Hayden had been coming home more and more recently.
There was no better proof of one’s heart than to always be together.
She believed that as long as Hayden was willing to get close to Yvonne, he would definitely fall for her.
“When did Yvonne come back?” Hayden asked.
“She has been back for a while…” Rita was taken aback. The way Hayden spoke didn’t sound very good.
Hayden walked straight ahead and brushed past her.
“Mr. Parker..” Rita wanted to say something else, but Hayden had already pushed the door open and entered.
I was still bonding with the baby in my belly when I heard footsteps behind me.

I instinctively thought that Rita had come back.
I
“Don’t worry, I will definitely get along well with Hayden and never quarrel again.” I was still assuring her.
I used to think that lying was an unforgivable sin, until I could lie through my teeth.
Let alone getting along well with Hayden, even being in the same space with him made me feel suffocated.
I wished I would never see him again.
“What… what did you say?” The voice I heard belonged to Hayden.
I froze and turned around subconsciously, only to find that it was Hayden.
“Nothing.” I lowered my eyes and did not want to look at him.
Footsteps continued to sound, and soon a pair of shoes stopped in my line of sight.
“Yvonne, what happened this afternoon?” Hayden’s voice came from above me, filled with his indulgence towards me.
For a moment. I thought I had heard wrong.
I thought. ‘How could Hayden talk to me like that?
I was so shocked that I forgot to answer.
Soon Hayden was squatting in front of me.
I sat on the edge of the bed, and he just squatted there, looking at me.
At that moment, my heart skipped a beat.
He stared at me for a moment, then suddenly reached out his hand.
I thought he was going to hit me, so I jumped up almost reflexively and dodged far away. “You… What are you doing?”
However, Hayden just wanted to help me straighten the hair at my temples.
He didn’t say anything, and his tightened jaw became increasingly bitter.
He slowly stood up, letting out a deep sigh, long and profound. “Yvonne, we
“Stop!” I hurriedly stopped him, feeling a little tired. “Don’t say it like that. You and I are very clearly separated. If you’re here because of the slap this afternoon, I apologize! Or you can hit me back if you want!”
After all, I was in the wrong, and I accepted my punishment.
Hayden didn’t get as angry as I expected. He frowned and said, “I don’t blame you. I just want to know what happened to you.” He spoke slowly, without his usual sharpness and disgust.
I looked at him in puzzlement and felt speechless.
We just stood there while staring at each other.
After some time, he sighed again. “Yvonne, when I was injured and unconscious abroad, you took care of me. Why didn’t you
tell me?”
“So that’s what this is about?” I sneered and felt my heart aching.
Thinking of the foolish me in the past, I wanted to slap myself in the face.

I asked, “What’s the point of telling you? To make you hate me even more? Anyway, we are getting a divorce soon. What’s the point of bringing up the past?”
“I won’t divorce, Hayden suddenly said.
I was stunned before a trace of surprise flashed in my eyes.
But soon my heart felt choked with pain.
“How long do you want to torture me?” I asked him.
The one I loved the most had finally become the cage that imprisoned me. I found this reality quite ironic.
It turned out that love could last for many years, but it could also crumble in an instant.
My sneer seemed to sting Hayden. He got up and tried to approach me.
Every time he took a step toward me, I took a step back, the gap between us could never be bridged.
He was a little annoyed, his eyebrows were raised, “I’m torturing you? Yvonne, do you like Marlon?”
The anger in my heart was ignited, the words of rebuttal reached my lips but I swallowed them back.
In a short while, the anger turned into a sour expression.
I gave a wry smile. “Don’t you like Joanna? Hayden, I’ll let you go, and you should let me go too. The three–month deadline is coming soon. Why don’t we sign the divorce papers tonight?”
I couldn’t wait a moment longer.
I had never been so eager to get away from him.
1 was terrified that he would find out about the baby in my belly.
However, Hayden started acting out of character at this very moment.
“Joanna and I are nothing. Believe me. He even started explaining to me.
His words were so sincere that I felt the intense tenderness behind his gaze.
If I hadn’t known that he and Joanna had a child, I almost would have believed his lies.
