Chapter 17
After I gathered my thoughts, I tried to push Hayden away with all my might. “Hayden! What do you think you’re doing?”
But he seemed completely out of it, his lips pressing against mine, taking everything from me without a care.
“Mh!” I pressed my hands against his chest, trying to snap him out of it, but it didn’t work–his tongue slipped in, taking over. I had never experienced anything like this before, and fear shook me to my core.
In a panic, I instinctively whimpered. Tears streamed down my cheeks, tasting salty when they hit my mouth. In the midst of the struggle, 1 yanked Hayden’s rosary bracelet off his wrist
The sound of the beads hitting the floor was sharp and clear. Hayden, who had been pulling at me with wild urgency, suddenly froze.
He shifted back slightly, his charming eyes now bloodshot, like a wild animal caged. Hearing the beads clatter seemed to clear his mind a bit. When he noticed the tears on my face, he reached out, wiping them away.
“Don’t cry,” he whispered softly, as if 1 were something precious.
I felt terrified, my throat tightened, and my words came out choppy. “You let go of me.”
Hayden probably had never seen me so miserable and was taken aback by his own actions. He went quiet for what felt like an eternity, and gradually, his firm grip on my shoulders loosened.
I staggered back several steps, trying to put distance between us. The Hayden from moments ago was truly terrifying. It felt like he wanted to consume me whole.
“Go to the hospital. he finally managed to say after a long while,
I had calmed down somewhat, But seeing the vein pulsing in his forehead and that strained expression made my hean race. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You did this, and now you’re asking me?” he snapped, his tone dark, almost losing his grip. Suddenly, he shouted, “Hurry. Or face the consequences
With no time to explain anything. I quickly stepped forward to support him. “Should I call Rich
Richard!”
“Don’t tell anyone. Use the private elevator to the parking lot, Hayden gritted out, straining to speak.
If any bad news about him got out, it would rock the entire Parker Group, I had no choice but to follow his lead through the private passage. Although Hayden’s mind had cleared a bit now, he was still weak with barely any energy to walk and was leaning heavily o
on me.
Ever since my mother’s death, I hadn’t been eating well and lost weight. Now, with him pressing down on me. I felt like my bones might sack Hayden watched as I struggled to walk, his eyebrows knitting together. He tried, it seeined, to stand on his own
“Don’t overdo it I scolded instinctively. Even though we weren’t together anymore, we were once married. And now, with him barely able to stand, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
I was focused on getting him into the car, completely unaware that he was watching me the whole time.
Moreover, I failed to catch his eyes gradually losing their focus, the fleeting moment of lucidity slipping away as his body heated up again–the medication was really kicking in hard
Once I finally found his car, I sighed with relief. “Great! Once we’re in the car, we’ll get to the hospital quickly!” At least I wouldn’t have to play human stretcher anymore.
Hayden wasn’t saying a word. His eyelids drooped, and 1 couldn’t make out what was happening behind them. “You get in first,” I said, struggling to help him into the back seat.
After I
got him sertled, I was about to move to the driver’s seat when a strong grip suddenly clamped down on my wrist.
I instinctively turned around, but in a heartbeat, the world spun, and Hayden pinned me down.
Everything happened to fast that I didn’t have a chance to react. The sound of my dress tearing sent a shock through my ears.
“Hayden! Let me go!” Panic was taking over as I tried to break free, but his bloodshot eyes pinned me down

Chapter 17
Luckily, the car door was shat. This was Hayden’s private garage, and no one else would come in. In the darkness, the car rocked steadily.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Richard handed over some paperwork to Joanna and then headed to the CEO’s office. After knocking and getting no response, he opened the door to find Hayden missing. He tidied up the desk, even clearing away the unfinished cup of coffee.
As he was leaving, he noticed something underfoot Looking down, he saw a bead. Isn’t this from the rosary bracelet Mr. Parker always has on! How did it come off he murmured to himself.
He then glanced around and noticed several beads scattered on the floor. He bent down, picked them up, and placed them neatly on Hayden’s desk
before leaving.
Before long, Joanna rushed in. She’d checked the pantry and discovered the coffee she’d made had vanished. Racing to find Hayden, she stepped. into the office, which was eerily quiet and desered. Where’d my coffee get to she muttered to herself
Joanna bit her lip. I spiked that coffee! And where’s Yvonne? She was in the pantry with me. Could it be that Yvonne grabbed that cup of coffee and handed it off to someone else?”
Feeling uneasy, she ran outside in search of Richard. “Richard, did Mrs. and Mr. Parker go out?”
“I don’t know,” Richard replied, shaking his head. “How can I possibly know where they go?” he thought.
Joanna fished her phone from her pocket and punched in Hayden’s number she had to confirm he was alright. But the call went unanswered.
Hayden’s phone had been on silent during his conversation with Marlon and had shipped between the gaps in the car seat now, casting only a faint glow.
After what felt like forever, the movement in the back of the car stopped, and the silence felt eerie. The car still held the scent of everything that had just happened.
Hayden had fallen into a deep sleep, and I struggled to pull on my torn dress. The tear stains on my face had long
Jong dried.
I’d been contemplating a fresh start after the divorce, but fate had different ideas, throwing me a curveball with a night I never expected to have with Hayden. I clutched my collar, still battled by the turn of events
