Chapter 198
If Tina knew that Hayden had assigned such an important task to her, she could only imagine the endless trouble she’d be facing later.
Hayden’s gaze was cold as he looked at her and said, “The Cliffbit Project is right next to Dolphyland.
“So what?” Lucy thought hard but couldn’t see the connection.
After all, wasn’t Dolphyland under the Warner family’s control?
The businesspeople from Elysiumville stayed far away from that place. Yet Hayden, undeterred by any of the bad luck surrounding Dolphyland, had bought land right next to it and started construction.
“Marlon’s back, and he’s brought a child with him. Go see what’s going on,” Hayden said directly.
Lucy felt like flipping the table.
She took a deep breath to calm herself, reminded of her family, and forced herself to reply, “Isn’t it normal for him to have a child! Mr. Parker, I’m really busy. Please, have someone else handle this.”
Without another word, she stood up and turned her back to leave.
She had matured a lot over the years. At the Parker Group, she wasn’t just coasting along–she’d learned a lot of real skills. She didn’t have time to waste on snooping into other people’s private matters.
Hayden had anticipated she would walk away, so he wasn’t in a rush. He calmly lifted his lips and said, “Marlon has always liked Yvonne. After he came back from overseas three years ago, he started making trouble for me. Then, one day, he just disappeared. Dolphyland began construction shortly after. Now, he’s back with a child. Don’t you find that odd?”
Everything about it–timeline, feelings, coincidences–seemed too perfect to ignore. Hayden’s intuition told him there was something deeper at play here.
But in Lucy’s eyes, his instincts seemed like the delusions of a madman.
She turned around, a sneer curling on her lips. “So you’re saying… Yvonne’s still alive! Hayden, is this your excuse for not putting up a headstone for her after three years?”
She nearly shouted the last sentence.
Her eyes were bloodshot, her gaze fixed on Hayden as she spat, “You’re worse than Yosef. At least Yosef didn’t hold a proper funeral for Yvonne’s mother, but he let her rest in peace. You? Yvonne loved you for ten years, gave her heart and soul to you, and after she died, you didn’t even bother to give her a tombstone?”
Lucy had once thought about putting up a memorial for Yvonne, but Hayden had forbidden it, sending people to sabotage her attempts
It wasn’t until the Coffey family intervened that she reluctantly gave up.
That experience had planted a seed of hatred in her heart. Every time she saw Hayden, she felt disgusted.
She couldn’t even face Yvonne’s memory anymore.
Hayden’s face turned pale, and after a long silence, he finally muttered, “If the body’s never found, there’s always a chance she’s
still alive.”
That was the only hope that had kept him going all these years.
What if Yvonne hadn’t died?

Maybe the sea had washed her ashore, maybe someone had saved her, maybe she had amnesia,
As long as there was no body, he would believe she was still out there.
You’re insane. Lucy snapped, not wanting to say another word.
Yvonne must have been cursed in her past life to be entangled with such a despicable man
She yelled and stormed out of the room.
Anyway, she was never going to rein it in. If Hayden was upset, he could easily kick her out.
And she would probably be relieved.
The secretaries watched her go. The new secretary, wide–eyed, whispered, “Who i

“Don’t you know? That’s Lucy, our CEO’s ex–wife’s best friend. She’s the only one who dares treat Mr. Parker like that,” an older secretary explained.
“Ah, so that’s who she is… but they’re divorced now. Why does the boss still let her treat him like this?”
“Who knows!”
Hayden drove alone to the beach at night.
As the sun set, the golden rays reflected off the sea, dazzling and mesmerizing. He often came here alone these days.
In a small café by the water, he would order a cup of coffee and sit silently from dawn to dusk, never speaking. No one could guess what thoughts were running through his mind.
Only he knew he was endlessly replaying the moments he had shared with Yvonne.
Yasir once said that despite his wisdom, Hayden was hopelessly slow when it came to emotions. All these years had been wasted.
It wasn’t until he had completely lost her that he realized, she was truly gone. Along with her, she had taken his heart.
Now, he was but a soulless shell of a man.
He wasn’t sure how long he’d been sitting there when suddenly someone sat across from him.
Without lifting his eyes, Hayden muttered, “What do you want?”
He didn’t need to look to know it was Nevin. Sometimes Nevin would find him here, sitting until midnight.
“Did Richard find anything about Marlon? What’s this all about?” Nevin asked, not answering Hayden’s question.
Nevin wasn’t the same obedient follower he had once been. He had matured, and now helped Hayden with the Parker Group’s affairs, doing quite well.
Hayden didn’t answer, his gaze still fixed on the sea.
“Hayden, it’s been so long. You still haven’t let go?” Nevin sighed, feeling sorry for him. He never expected Hayden to be this
stubborn.
“I thought things would get better over time, but it’s been three years, and you haven’t moved on at all. In fact, it’s worse.”
Hayden furrowed his brow, irritated, and turned to face Nevin.

Nevin instinctively lowered his gaze, too afraid to meet Hayden’s intense stare. Then he noticed the small teddy bear in Hayden’s hand and exclaimed, “Where did you get that teddy bear? Don’t tell me your mom gave it to you?”
Recently, Layla had been buying a lot of things for Hayden.
Nevin immediately realized something was off. “Wait, no, your mom buys all kinds of weird stuff. This bear is way be from her
“Found it,” Hayden replied, his gaze softening as he looked at the bear in his hand..
Nevin caught the subtle change in Hayden’s expression and blinked in confusion.
Then, with a knowing smile, he teased, “Found it? Who gave it to you? It’s too cute. I bet it was a woman, right?”
Hayden was about to respond when his sharp glare silenced Nevin.
“Have you heard anything from Ethan?” Hayden asked coldly, effectively ending the conversation.
