Chapter 199
Nevin froze for a moment before shaking his head in frustration. “No news at all,” he said.
Ever since Ethan vanished from the hospital three years ago, there had been no word. Not even the extensive information network of the Parker family could uncover anything
Hayden’s gaze shifted towards the horizon, where the sum had completely dipped below the skyline, leaving nothing but an
endless sea of darkness.
“Hayden, why are you so obsessed with finding him?” Nevin asked, his curiosity piqued.
“Ethan was Yvonne’s bodyguard. If Yvonne really committed suicide, then their connection would have ended. Ethan should have been free to leave and start over. But instead, he was brutally attacked and left unconscious,” Hayden’s voice was slow and deliberate.
That could still have been the work of his old enemies, right? I mean, he was involved in the underworld. He must have had a lot of enemies. Nevin responded, confused.
Hayden wasn’t about to dismiss that possibility, but…
“When we were on the cruise, a normal enemy wouldn’t have dared to make a scene in front of the Parker family,” he said.

‘s eyes suddenly widened with realization. “Oh, right. It was our family’s cruise ship. Who would be foolish enough to cause trouble there? The smartest move would have been to wait until we were back on land.”
Nevin paused, the weight of Hayden’s words sinking in. But after a moment, he couldn’t help but feel the connection between these two events was a bit far–fetched.
He hesitated, then looked at Hayden with concern. “Are you sure you’re not just letting your emotions get the best of you? How could anyone be so focused on Yvonne? Even Joanna doesn’t have the resources to do something like this, right?”
To pull off something this well–coordinated, the person responsible would have to be someone with extraordinary influence. Joanna might be a bit clever, but not to this extent.
Hayden didn’t acknowledge Nevin’s doubt. He simply spoke again. “Maybe Yvonne’s still alive.”
He didn’t care what kind of person Joanna was. All he knew was that the signs pointed to one thing: Yvonne might really still be alive, even though everyone kept telling him that Yvonne was long gone.
Nevin frowned, but Hayden wouldn’t entertain his thoughts on the matter.
In the end, Nevin gave up, raising his hands in resignation. “I wish she was still alive too. That way, you wouldn’t have to suffer
so much. But…”
Before he could finish, Nevin’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, then got up quickly to answer. Moments later, he returned, looking troubled. “It’s Mom. She wants us to come home tonight.”
“Tell her I’m busy.” Hayden’s voice was terse as he stood and walked away without looking back.
Nevin sighed in place, his patience thinning. Within minutes, his phone rang again. He groaned, not bothering to hide his frustration as he answered.
“Mom, what now?”
“Have you two come back yet?” Layla’s anxious voice crackled through the phone. “I went shopping today and got you both some things. You need them, don’t you?”

Nevin pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. “Mom, can you stop pushing so hard? Hayden’s been avoiding home for three years because of you, and now you want to make it worse?”
Layla’s tone shifted instantly, as if he had struck a nerve. She yelled into the phone, “What’s with you? I’m just trying to help! Back then, your brother brought Joanna home and treated her so well. I thought it was fine to arrange their marriage. But he didn’t want that! Now three years have passed, and they’re still not married! Are you trying to make me die of worry?”
Nevin sighed, feeling utterly defeated. “Mom, I have things to do, I’m hanging up” Before Layla could respond. Nevin quickly ended the call, his head pounding.
He could already feel himself losing it. If this kept up, he might not even want to go home anymore.
Clenching his fists, Nevin followed Hayden out the door, determined. “Hey, Hayden, can I stay with you tonight?”
Hayden shot him a cold look. “You have no place to stay?”
Nevin ignored the clear dismissal and jumped into the car, slamming the door behind him. “Rosy House is nice enough, but my house is so quiet. The meals the maid makes are awful. Rita’s cooking is way better.”
Despite not wanting to engage, Hayden didn’t kick him out. He simply started the car and drove away.
In truth, Nevin just wanted to keep him company.
Ever since Yvonne’s death, he feared Hayden might follow her, lost in his grief.
Turns out, Hayden was a romantic at heart…
At Jethive Group, in the CEO’s office, Dylan came by to deliver afternoon tea and snacks.
“All of this is from Waylon. This morning, Mr. Warner took him to the bakery, and he was as happy as a kid with a new toy,” Dylan said, a smile tugging at his lips.
I bit into a slice of cake and said, “Is Marlon on break? I could use some help. If he’s free, he can come help me out.” I’m here to help you, aren’t I?” Dylan shot me a playful look.
I chuckled awkwardly. “Yes, thank you for everything”
Dylan laughed too. He wasn’t truly mad at me.
He set down the drinks and snacks on the coffee table, then looked around my office. His brow furrowed at the piles of paperwork. “You just got back, and you already have this much work?”
“Exactly because I just got back,” I sighed, massaging my temples. “Business transitions, new projects… there’s a lot to catch up
Son
I thought the company would run smoothly after I got back, but the reality had proven much more complicated.
“Take it slow,” Dylan reassured me. He turned and looked out the window, his gaze falling on the Parker Group building across the street. “What do you think when you look at that building every day?”
“I’m just thinking about when I’ll buy a building taller than the Parker Group,” I replied, following his gaze.

Chapter 199
Who could have imagined? From humble beginnings, I ended up starting my company right across from the Parker Group.
“That day’s coming soon,” Dylan said with a smile. “I heard from Mr. Warner that you’re a natural at business, and you’re diligent too. In just three years, you’ve already built your business into something big in Microsunland. Hayden, you’re amazing.
“I’m just standing on the shoulders of giants. You and Marlon have helped me so much,” I didn’t want to take all the credit; without them, I wouldn’t have gotten far.
Just then, the secretary knocked and entered.
“Sir, someone from the Parker Group is here. They said Mr. Parker would like to meet with you.”
