Chapter 201
“Quite the swagger, huh?” Yasir was momentarily stunned. Was there really anyone bold enough to not give Hayden face?
But then, his expression shifted as he remembered something. He blinked, his shock turning into an incredulous question. “Wait a minute, didn’t you say you weren’t interested in Jethive Group before? Why the sudden urge to meet her now?”
The last time he’d mentioned it. Hayden had been completely indifferent. So, what had changed in such a short time?
At that. Hayden paused, turning to Yasir with an air of mystery in his eyes. “Marlon and Jethive Group share a rather deep.
connection
“What’s that got to do with anything! Marlon’s been overseas for years; maybe they’re just business partners,” Yasir shrugged, unimpressed. In the world of high society, it was only natural for people at the top of the food chain to be well–acquainted
Hayden, sensing that Yasir had missed the point, elaborated further.
Jethive Group only emerged in the last couple of years. From the get–go, they were well–funded. And remember when Yvonne sold the Jackson Group? She got 80 million dollars, which she sent abroad.”
What a coincidence.
And yet, it didn’t
sit right. Marlon had been so obsessed with Yvonne–how could he have suddenly disappeared from her life?
Hayden’s suspicions were starting to feel all too real.
Yasir wasn’t stupid. He picked up on the insinuation in Hayden’s words.
But he couldn’t help but sigh in resignation. “I get it, you miss Yvonne. But if she’s really alive, why hasn’t she come back? Why go off to some foreign land alone? How’s a woman supposed to survive in a place like that?”
Hayden didn’t have an answer.
Why hadn’t Yvonne returned if she were still alive? The truth was, he couldn’t face it.
She hated him, couldn’t bear the sight of him anymore. That was why she never came back.
But there was something else he knew.
“Yasir, you don’t know her. In some ways, she’s incredibly strong. Even if she were alone, she’d survive. You have to believe that.” Hayden’s voice was slow but firm, brimming with unwavering conviction.
As they were talking, the voice of the announcer suddenly rang out. “Sophia Group, Mr. Jackson.”
When Hayden and Yasir entered earlier, the same announcement had been made, but neither of them had paid much
attention.
It was simply a way to announce who had arrived, so guests could prepare to mingle.
Yasir turned towards the entrance, his eyes narrowing as he saw Yosef walking in with Sophia by his side.
“Didn’t think Yosef was so devoted to his wife. He even named his new company after her, Yasir snorted, clear disdain in his
voice.
Lucy had told him plenty about this family, including how they’d bullied Yvonne, so his loathing was palpable.
Sophia, walking proudly by Yosef’s side, wore a beaming smile as if she had just been crowned president. “Wait, is Joanna here too?” Yasir asked suddenly.
At the mention of her name, Hayden’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Lucy’s been getting close to her lately, hasn’t she?”

Yasir’s scalp tingled with nervousness, and he quickly scrambled to explain. “It’s just Lucy’s older brother, alright? He seems to like Joanna a lot, so they’ve been getting along. Lucy can’t exactly avoid it.”
Yasir didn’t understand how Zack and Joanna had come to know each other, but they were close, and Lucy, who had always been closest to Zack, had no choice but to tolerate it.
Is that so?” Hayden responded flatly, his eyes unreadable.
Yasir didn’t dare to continue, looking nervously back at the entrance, “So, where is this Jethive Group CEO? Playing with our nerves, huh?”
Outside, I sat in the car, hesitating to get out.
Marlon sat beside me, seemingly understanding my hesitation. With a reassuring smile, he said, “Don’t be afraid. No matter what happens, I’m with you”
“I know,” I nodded, trusting him completely. But still..
“Three years of waiting, and the moment is almost here. What’s holding you back?” Marlon pressed gently.
A subtle frown crossed my face as I realized how anxious I’d become. All the frustration and resentment from the past three years–would I finally get the justice I deserved?
It felt surreal, almost too much to grasp.
“Marlon, can I really do this?” I asked without thinking, the question directed at both him and myself.
“Of course,” Marlon answered without hesitation, his tone unwavering.
His confidence was contagious, and it gave me the courage I needed.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.
After three years of waiting, it was finally happening.
Just then, a familiar voice rang out from outside the car.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Joanna, and I’ll be your host today, bringing you live coverage of the Wavepeak Stadium auction.”
I couldn’t help but look up, recognizing the voice immediately.
At the entrance of the hall, there stood Joanna, dressed in a sharp white suit, speaking into the camera.
Dylan had told me she became a journalist, but seeing it with my own eyes… it was real.
My teeth clenched. A murderer, now standing in front of the camera with such poise?
The world really had changed.
Marlon, too, had noticed Joanna
Without me saying a word, he could tell how deeply angered I was.
“The enemy’s right in front of you,” he said, his tone grim. “If you back down now, what was the point of everything three years ago? All that waiting, all that silence…”
“I just didn’t expect her to be this capable,” I said coldly, a faint smile curling on my lips. The unease that had lingered in my heart earlier had vanished without a trace.
I fixed my gaze on Joanna, standing confidently in front of the camera, her words flowing smoothly.
Chapter 201
What she was saying didn’t matter to me, but that face….it was still so familiar..
Unbidden, the memory flashed in my mind–three years ago, when she pushed me into the sea.
The cruel satisfaction in her eyes when she pushed me into the sea, the way she stepped over my broken body to climb higher… It was all so vivid.
“Are you ready?” Marlon asked once more.
1 nodded. my gaze hardening. I had to be cautious–Joanna wasn’t someone to underestimate.
Marlon gave a nod of approval, then opened the car door for me.
Inside the hall, the attendants announced, “Jethive Group, Ms. Jackson, Marlon.”
I froze for a moment. Hadn’t Marlon come here as the CEO of Warner Group!
Marlon, noticing my confusion, gave me a gentle smile. “Today, you’re the protagonist.”
