I decided to say nothing more and focused on my food. I thought that if Sean had any self–awareness, he would take the hint and leave.

Alump formed in my throat–Sean was right. He probably believed I should hate Hayden, so he was so bold about trying to win me over.
I used to believe Hayden was unbeatable, but now I realized he had his fair share of battles. The Parker Group belonged to the Parker family, and those shady folks dared to plot it. Who knew how much undercover dealing was happening!
Seeing me quiet, Sean pressed on, “If you get divorced, do you think you’d get much of the family assets with Mr. Parker’s attitude toward you? Why not team up with us? Then the Parker Group could be yours.”

I listened quietly, knowing these were just excuses to mask Sean and Zachary’s ambitions. No matter how convincing his arguments sounded, his true aim was to seize Parker Group.
After a moment of silence, I finally asked. “What’s in it for me if I team up with you?”
Sean perked up immediately, leaning in doser. “If Hayden can’t be the CEO, then as his wife, you could easily take over his position temporarily When that happens, you could do whatever you want.”
The temptation was strong, Moving from being controlled to taking control–who could resist that?
Suddenly, I found myself in a mental tug–of–war. I once loved Hayden so deeply that I would have sacrificed everything for him, but now I was able to focus on what was best for me. My feelings for him had truly dimmed over time.
And then there was Sean. How could I be sure if his intentions to team up with me were genuine? Or was this all part of a scheme orchestrated by Hayden?
Maybe Hayden had asked Sean to test my loyalty, to tempt me into a betrayal. If I took the bait. Hayden would have a solid excuse to go to Xander and push for a divorce.
Just as I was about to respond, the cafeteria erupted in noise. “Look! Mr. Parker actually came to the cafeteria, someone shouted from the crowd.
