Chapter 29
Sean appeared to be keeping a close eye on both Hayden and me. Recalling his earlier remarks, I felt a cold
d shiver run down my spine.
Before I knew it, a wave of nausea hit me. I doubled over, wanting to gag. My stomach twisted, and I ignored everything else as I covered my mouth and dashed towards the bathroom.
As I pushed through the crowd, I caught snippets of conversation
“What’s wrong with Mrs. Parker? She looks like she’s about to throw up.
“Could she be pregnant?”
“Wait, didn’t Mr. Parker just get back a few days ago! That’s fast.”
“What do you expect! They’re married, they can get busy whenever.”
The crowd burst into laughter, coming Hayden’s expression to darken even more. ‘How could she be having a baby so soon! And if she way it’s mine, he thought

There’s n
no
I stumbled into the bathroom and emptied my stomach. The discomfort distracted me from the chaos swirling around the company.
After wiping my mouth, I fixed my makeup in the mirror before stepping outside, where I spotted Richard waiting by the door. “Mrs. Parker, Mr. Parker wants you to go to the hospital for a check–up” Richard said, keeping his eyes lowered as if he felt guilty.
Tm fine. No need for that,” I replied, reluctant to go to the hospital. I knew my body well enough to tell if something was seriously wrong.
But Richard wouldn’t relent. “Mr. Parker is waiting downstairs,”
Only then did I realize had no choice. But Hayden would really come to the hospital with me? That was unexpected
When I followed Richard downstairs, I saw Hayden waiting in the car, looking a bit green. I was the one who got sick, but he seemed worse.
At the hospital, I thought I would be having a stomach exam. But to my surprise, Hayden took me to the obstetrics department. That was when it hit mr–he suspected I might be pregnant. No wonder he came along for the check–up.
“What? You think I’d cheat on you?” I mapped, my words sharp. I had been faithful to him for so long, yet he doubted me. It sung, and I couldn’t help but wonder how I’d ever let myself fall for someone like him.
Hayden shot me an icy glare. Just get the examination done first,” he said.
I had no reason to say no–it was the easiest way to clear my name. But during the examination, they ran a bunch of extra tests, checking my whole body. Confused, I asked, “Do you need to do all these tests just for pregnancy!”
“We are considering your overall health,” the gynecologist replied politely.
I was taken aback and decided not to question it further. They probably thought that if the examination wasn’t thorough enough, they wouldn’t have a good answer for Hayden. After all, who would want to cross that guy?
When the final test results came back, it was clear–I wasn’t pregant I tossed the report in front of Hayden and said, “Are you happy now?”
His face remained unchanged, but his gaze on me grew intense.
The silence dragged on, and my patience wore thin. “Can I go now?” I asked.
“Go see the digestive department, Hayden instructed, striding ahead.
I glared at his back, my teeth clenched.
After another round of tests, the doctor looked at the results with a concerned frown, “Why are you so thin? You haven’t been eating much lately. luve you?”
“No appetite,” I admitteil, nodding
“Since you haven’t been eating well, eating more at lunch could have upset your stomach, the doctor explained.
feel sick.
At lunchtime in the office, I had taken a little more food, not wanting to waste it. It seemed fine at first, but then Hayden gave me a piece of fat meat, making everything worse.
While I was talking to the doctor, Hayden suddenly chimed in. “You haven’t been eating enough!”
I didn’t answer him, and the room fell quiet.
“Yvonne Jackson,” he called my name like a warning, like threatening me to respond or face the c
consequences,
Seeing the doctor’s hand freeze while writing notes, I sighed helplessly, “Didn’t I say I have no appetite?”
Hayden frowned and looked at the doctor. Prescribe hier something to help with her appetite and digestion.”
“Okay, I’ll do it right away” The director wiped the sweat off his forehead while nodding quickly.
I glanced at Hayden, confused by his behavior. Considering how much he disliked me, shouldn’t he be mocking me instead of taking charge!
After we left the gastroenterology department, Hayden told me to get into the car first. He said he had some matters to take care of.
1 felt speechless. He had things to do, but I couldn’t leave first? I had to wait in the car?
Noticing my boredom, Richard said, “Is the cafeteria food not to your liking! You don’t have to eat there. Just tell me what you want, and I’ll have it delivered.”
His offer warmed my heart a bit. “No need. It’s just an old issue,” I replied.
Then a thought struck me–Hayden had eaten in the company cafeteria too. I asked, “Does Mr. Parker often eat at the cafeteria?
“Not really.” Richard shook his head. He remembered that Hayden typically avoided the cafeteria when he was in the office. But today, knowing Yvonne was there, he’d made an exception.
1 was puzzled. Why would Hayden, who valued quiet, choose to go to the cafeteria! An image of him chatting happily with Joanna popped into my mind, and it suddenly clicked–he must have gone there to see her. He was so devoted to Joanna.
I bit my lip and turned to look out the car window. By chance, I spotted Haysden on the third–floor balcony, deep in conversation with the gynecologist
Was the issue he mentioned earlier just about visiting the doctor? Was he unhappy with the results? My dislike for him intensified.
Actually, what Hayden was asking the doctor had nothing to do with pregnancy at all. “Did she actually do it yesterday?” he asked, his voice icy. devoid of any emotion.
The doctor lowered his head and said, “Yeah, and it was the first time. The tearing was quite severe.”
Every word hit Hayden hard. He had already suspected it. But why would Yvonne lic? Does she truly want a divorce, to get away from me? Or is there some other scheme in motion! he thought, finding it increasingly difficult to Exiliom Yvonne’s true feelings.

Ten minutes later, I was waiting in the car, half asleep, when suddenly the door swung open. A cold breeze rushed in, I wrapped my arms around myself and turned to see Hayden sitting next to me.
