Chapter 53
Seeing Jamie’s furious expression, I could tell he was ready to tear me apart.
Stanley immediately stood up to stop him. “Jamie, calm down!”
“How can I calm down! I trusted her as a friend, and she betrayed me! You two are siblings, right? You planned this, didn’t you? Used me to scam money?!” Jamie seemed completely out of control, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
It was obvious who spilled the beans.
I frowned and got up, trying to make my words as clear as possible. “I didn’t betray you. It was Xander who gave it to me without asking. I didn’t intend to keep it
Jamie froze for a moment, his movements becoming stiff. “You didn’t keep it
“Hayden took it,” I replied.
“You still don’t know what kind of person Yvonne ist if she really were that kind of person, why would she go through all this trouble to help you?” Stanley pulled Jamie aside and handed him a glass of water, “Just take a breath.”
After Jamie took a sip, he seemeil to calm down a bit and looked at me. “So what really happened?”
I sighed and recounted everything that had gone down last night.
Jamie’s expression grew even more uncomfortable, and he awkwardly said, “Yonne, I’m sorry, I misunderstood you.”
“If I were in your shoes, I probably wouldn’t have been able to hold back either. I shook my head, not really bothered by the earlier drama.
Stanley patted Jamie on the shoulder and advised, “Young man, don’t act so impulsively.”
Jamie’s face tightened, a bit embarrassed.
Noticing the atmosphere was off, I shified back to serious matters. “Has anyone from the Parker family reached out to your
Jamie shook his head, looking down, exhausted.
Stanley and I exchanged a glance and, without needing to say it, fell into silence for a few seconds. Just then, Rita’s call came in. Since Jamie and Stanley weren’t strangers. I picked up right away.
“Mrs. Parker? You need to come back quickly. Your family is here… Rita sounded a bit frantic, with an edge of confusion.
“My family!” At first, I didn’t process it. My mother had passed away, and my father didn’t care about my life, so who could possibly be visiting?
“Yeah. It’s Mrs. Jiang and your sister. Rita wasn’t sure either, repeating what the mother and daughter had said.
Hearing that, my heart raced uncontrollably! What were Sophis and Joanna doing at Rosy House? Didn’t Joanna cling to Hayden on her days off?
“I’ll be right back,” I said quickly before hanging up and getting ready to leave
Stanley noticed something was off and furrowed his brow. Do you need help?”
“No, it’s Sophia. I have to head back first” I spoke quickly, glancing at Jamie. “Jamie, if there’s anything, talk to my brother first, and I’ll catch you
later
“Okay, sure. You handle your stud Jamie looked a bit confused, not quite sure what was going on but definitely worried.
I didn’t have time to explain. I turned and ran toward the door! Sophia and Joanna had just shown up at Rosy House, and it wasn’t going to be good. Jamie stared for a long moment before asking. “Yvonne’s okay, right?”
“Every family has its struggles, Stanley sighed, straightening up and saying seriously. “About your case, the evidence chain suggests a strong chance of winning, but realistically, you probably won’t be successful. You might end up paying a huge price for it
Jamie’s expression stiffened, and after a long pause, he asked, “What are you trying to say?”
Stanley didn’t answer directly, Ipstead, he leaned back in his chair and scrutinized Jamie. “I heard Yvonne say you’re about to hold an art exhibition?
Exclusive Pale
2/2
Yes Jamie nodded.
“If you want the exhibition to go well, my advice is to drop the suit.” Stanley got straight to the point.
Jamie clenched his jaw rightly, anger flashing in his eyes. “Isn’t there a single chance! Do rich people just get to do whatever they want?”
“That’s how the world works, unfortunately. But you could rethink this. Why not use this opportunity to elevate your career?” Stanley suggested with a smirk.
“What do you meant Jamie asked, clearly not fully grasping Stanley’s suggestion.
Stanley continued to smile, his well–defined hand tapping rhythmically on the table.
“We both know that if this blows up, at most, it’ll only make Nevin lose a bit of face, and the Parker family can throw some money at it to make it go
What you might lose… could be your life. He stated each word with chilling clarity.
Jamie’s breath caught, his hands tightening into fists. “I just can’t accept that!”
“Accept Nevin’s apology, drop the suit, and let your exhibition gain more exposure. It’s a chance that many people dream of Stanley
He leaned forward a little more, looking deeper into Jamie’s eyes. “Even if you’re not doing it for yourself, consider Cici. I heard she’s coming back soon. And Yvonne’s been worrying about you.”
After hearing this, Jamie’s mental defenses crumbled completely. The Parker family loomed over him like a giant mountain–how could he possibly fight back alone!
“Is there really no other way?” Jamie asked, testing the waters.
“There is. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Wait until you have enough strength to confront the Parker family, then seek fairness, Stanley replied coldly, but it was the truth.
Jamie fell silent. He’d known for six months that he wouldn’t win.
Seeing his quietness, Stanley added, “Think it over carefully. If you decide to sue, Yvonne and I will bark you up.”
Sometimes the best plan wasn’t the most humane. It all depended on what choice jamie would make.
As I hurried back to Rosy House, I spotted Sophia and Joanna lounging on the sofa in the living room, stuffing their mouths with fruit.
These weren’t your everyday fruits; they were pricey types you could only dream about. Deborah had specially sent someone to get them.
Sophia and Joanna chatted as they munched. “This fruit is insanely sweet! I’ve never seen an apple with red flesh before! Oh, and look at this pink pineapple! We should pack some for your brother
“I told him to come along, but he wouldn’t budge. He insisted on chasing after Dylan”
“Mom, I can’t believe Yvonne lives in such an amazing place. It’s like a palace! And the food is so extravagant–totally different from what we have!” Joanna replied, her tone dripping with envy.
The Parker family is top–tier! Don’t worry, as long as you can marry Hayden, all this luxury will be yours!” Sophia laughed heartily, as if she could already see her daughter stepping into a life of riches.
“But didn’t the Parker family also give Yvonne a cruise ship? That must’ve cost a fortinet Joanna’s features twisted with envy at the thought.
Hearing this, I realized they were here because of the ship
