Chapter 70
Richard’s expression was somewhat guilty. “Mr. Parker asked me to look after Ms. Charlotte.”
1 felt a slight shill in my expression, but I wasn’t really surprised.
Joanna was someone Hayden held dear, so of course, he would be extra cautious around her.
Lidia, already smug, now wore an even more arrogant, self–satisfied gru “Mr. Parker really dotes on you, Joanna. You’ve barely stepped out, and he’s already worried. Yvonne, you should just steps aside and leave Mr. Parker to make room for Joanna.
I gave a cold smile. “If you’re so capable, why do you need me to step asidet By the way, with that kind of talk, are you admitting she’s the mistress, waiting for her turn to move up”
a’s sharp, cruel features twisted even more in fury as she gritted her teeth and spat. “Everyone in the company knows Mr. Parker’s heart belongs to Joann
I were you, I would have stayed hidden at home by now, too embarrassed to show my face
I raised an eyebrow, thinking to myself, “Why would I hide at home just because Hayden’s having an affair? What a joke.
Before I could speak, Richard, who usually kept to himself, suddenly spoke up. “Lidia, Mrs. Parker is still Mr. Parker’s wife,”
He didn’t say anything harsh, but that simple reminder was enough,
Lidia immediately fell silent.
After all, she worked for the Parker Group, and Richard had been Hayden’s secretary for many years. If Richard decided to badmouth her even a little. Lidia would be in serious trouble.
When it came to picking on someone, Lidia knew better than to take on someone like Richard with such a powerful background.
Joanna shot Richard a glance, her expression darkening
She didn’t say anything but simply tugged at Lidia’s sleeve
I was genuinely surprised that Richard had spoken up for ine
Everyone
knew that Joanna was Hayden’s beloved one. I instinctively thought Richard would be trying to curry favor with her.
But after Richard’s words, the atmosphere grew tense and quiet.
It wasn’t until a man in a slightly overstuffed suit walked over that Lila suddenly snapped out of it. She quickly tugged at Joanna’s sleeve and whispered something to her, and the two followed the man in the store.
Seeing this, Richard bent slightly and nodded at me before following them in
I couldn’t help but glance at the man in the suit, wondering who he was
Anyone who could make both Lidia and Joanna act so nervously couldn’t possibly be an insignificant person
While I was still puzzling over this, Zachary suddenly appeared in front of me.
“That man’s name is Harrison Robinson. He’s the new tenant for these stores, Zachary said randomly
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why are you telling me this? Don’t you want me to lose?
“Winning or losing is one thing, but Joanna definitely knows all of this. You should know it too. That’s the only way the game is fair,” Zachary said with a mysterious smile.
For some reason, I always felt that Zachary was a bit devious and not someone to be trusted.
He was the one who had stirred up this whole gambling situation, so nothing he did was worth thanking him for.
It wasn’t surprising that Joanna knew about these things.
Lidia worked in the marketing department, so she must know a lot. And since she was close to Joanna, of course, she would pass the information along.

As for me.
The people in the marketing department were clearly hiding something from me. Solving the issue with the store wouldn’t be easy
“Is that so? Mr. Swanson, what else do you know?” I asked, hoping to learn more.
No matter what, the more I knew, the better my chances would be.
Zachary raised an eyebrow, assuming a more authoritative posture, “Are we just going to stand here and talk?“
I spotted a coffee shop across the street and suggested. “How about a coffee?”
Zachary didn’t decline, and he didn’t look all that pleased
1 ordered two cups of coffee and picked up our previous conversation. “Mr. Swanson, what else do you know?
Zachary lifted his coffee cup with one hand, took a small sip, and then looked up at me with a half–smile. “I can tell you what I know, but what’s in it for me?”
I had expected Zachary wouldn’t just give me the information freely.
He paused for a moment, then absentmindedly stroked his little goatee and grinned. “If you win, I’ll have no date. But if you lose, that 2% stake will be out of reach…..”
His words carried a hint of something deeper,
I smiled. “You want me to sell that 2% stake to you?”
Zachary had always had his eye on the Parker Group
The quickest way to gain control of a company was by holding more shares. The largest shareholder had the most power.
“You are so smart” Zachary snapped his fingers, clearly amused.
I had known this was his goal all along. Holding a tramp card gave me confidence.
“Well then, Mr. Swanson, you’d better help me win, I said, smiling as I looked at him, my gaze showing a determination to succeed.
“If I get involved, it might..” Zachary hesitated.
I cut him off. The rules say Hayden can’t help, but it doesn’t say anything about other people helping
Zachary raised his eyebrows even higher, and I could almost see the sparks of curiosity and interest in his gaze.
“People are saying Hayden’s wife is useless, but I don’t think you’re what they say you are.”
Zachary commented, his lips curling into a subtle smile.
“Seeing isn’t always believing.” I replied with a relaxed smile, not feeling the need to explain further.
Zachary nodded in agreement and then added. ‘Til help you, no problem But if you win, that 2% stake… will you really sell it to me?”
“Mr. Swanson, that depends on what you’re willing to offer,” I answered, my words carefully neutral.
I neither agreed nor rejected, leaving a window of opportunity for him.
As long as he was willing to pay, there was a chance.
Zachary’s expression darkened immediately, his eyes becoming as deep and mysterious as the night.
After a long pause, he suddenly burst into laughter.
He began. “Hayden’s judgment really isn’t all that great. He lets go of a gem right next to him and goes for some unremarkable woman. Yvonne… I’m starting to find you more and more interesting.”
I listened calmly, with not a hint of emotion in my eyes.
His approval didn’t matter to me in the slightest.
“So, does that mean you’re agreeing to help me?” I steered the conversation back on track.

Zachary smiled. “Looking forward to working with you.
‘Six dollars for a cup of coffee and an opportunity! Totally worth it, I wondered
After we left the coffee shop, Zachary led me to the entrance.
I thought he was going to take me to meet Harrison, but looking around, there wasn’t a soul in sight. I couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. “Why did you bring me here?
“You’ll find out soon enough,” Zachary replied cryptically, as though everything was under his control.
I eyed him suspiciously, unsure of what he was really up to,
We waited for about ten minutes, and by now, my patience was wearing thin. “What exactly are you trying to do“”
“Here, he’s coming. Zachary said, crossing his arms and nodding toward a direction
I followed his gaze, expecting to see some important figure, but instead, I saw an elderly Janitor sweeping the floor.
For a moment, I thought I might have been played.
“Zachary, I don’t have time for games My tone was cold.
Zachary wasn’t offended. In fact, he kept watching the old man. “Take a closer look”
