Chapter 74
The commanding tone really rubbed me the wrong way.
Home! How laughable. Is that even my home! Does he really consider Rosy House his home? I thought to myself.
If he meant the Parker residence, he would’ve typed so directly.
After a brief pause, I locked my phone screen and chose not to reply.
In the study at Rosy House, Hayden had sent that message but received no response, as if it had vanished into thin air.
The lines of his jaw tightened.
He striped through the chat.
Hayden [Where are your]
Hayden: Call me back.
Hayden Grandfather wants to see you.]
Upon closer inspection, Hayden noticed that Yvonne hadn’t replied to him in the past two weeks.
His frustration rose rapidly
Unconsciously, he continued scrolling through the chat history, determined to find the last time I had replied.
Over the years, Hayden had switched phones and never deleted his chat records. There was no way there wouldn’t be anything.
After swiping through twice, he finally found my message:
Yvonne: [Goodnight.|
Yvonne: Gotin]
Yvonne: [It’s over. Everything’s fine.]
Yvonne [Did you rest? I went to my parents today. Mom said she hadn’t seen you in a while. She asked when you’re coming back.] Yvonne [I went shopping with Lucy this afternoon. We bought a few sets of baby clothes as gifts. Her baby was bom not too long ago. Lucy is already urging us to have one. Do you think she’s in a hurry?]
At the time, the chat was filled with my long messages, and Hayden rarely replied.
He would skim through them, sometimes thinking they were just trivial details, not worth paying attention to
But now, he realized that I hadn’t shared those random thoughts with him in a long time.
It seemed like she was slowly pulling away.
Upon realizing this, a flicker of emotion appeared in Hayden’s cold eyes.
A faint discomfort settled in his chest, a feeling of unspoken frustration.
Why has Yvonne changed so much? he thought to himself.
With a soft sigh, Hayden lowered his gaze and happened to glance at the computer screen. There was a photo of her and Dylan embracing, and an almost imperceptible pains quickly pierced his heart.
Unconsciously, he raised a hand to gently touch his chest, his deep eyes filled with confusion.
What’s going on? Why am I so reluctant to let go now that I realize Yvonne might really leave?’ he wondered.

Chapter 74
Just then, a banner appeared at the top of his phone screen,
It was a message from Joanna.
Joanna: [Hayden, I’ve met with Mr. Robinson. He’s not giving up. He says
he’s determined to win.
When I returned to Rosy House. I had Rita arrange a place for Ethan to stay.
The yard was now full of people from the Parker family, and now I had my bodyguard.
“Mrs. Parker, Mr. Parker is still waiting for you in the study. Rita reminded me.
- y. I’ll go see him.” It was then that I remembered Hayden had sent me a message, so I nodded. “Okay,
I didn’t even bother changing my clothes and went straight to the study.
The room, once always dark, was now often lit, though I couldn’t remember when that change had happened.
When I reached the door, I knocked politely.
My feelings for Hayden had changed, and the way we interacted had grown more distant.
Hayden, hearing the knock, quickly lifted his gaze toward me.
“Are y
you looking for me?” I asked as I walked in.
Hayden narrowed his eyes, his expression darkening “Where have you been?”
Just out for a walk,” I replied, my tone flat and my words shorter than usual.
In the past, I wouldn’t have waited for Hayden to ask and I would’ve eagerly run up to him, wrapping my arm around his, excitedly telling him everything I saw and heard that day.
Back then, all I cared about was sharing with him, not realizing the disdain in his eyes.
Now, I finally understood that some things just aren’t meant to be shared, especially
y when others have no desire to hear them.
Hayden sneered coldly, tossing a photo from the desk right in front of me. The paparazzi have tracked me down. They want 16 million dollars for your photos. Yvonne, do you think you’re worth 16 million dollars?”
His voice was cold, biting as if I was the greatest embarrassment of his life.
I looked down at the photo.
It was the moment when Dylan had shielded me with his body from the attack, pulling me into his arms,
I hadn’t realized there were paparazzi at the scene, and now they were using the photos to blackmail Hayden
What
That was supposed to be a touching, heroic act now turned into something twisted in the eyes of those people.
I gently picked up one of the photos, my red lips curving into a smirk. “Mr. Parker, it seems your reputation is only worth 16 million dollars
“But perhaps those paparazzi don’t know that your reputation’s been long gone, scattered somewhere no one can find it.“
“Yvonner Hayden’s voice was low and furious, his tone sharp as he growled my name.
But I just looked at him, my gaze calm, not a hint of fear in my eyes,
“Your photos with Joanna have been all over the place. Do you really care about this?” I asked as if I’d just heard the funniest joke.
Is this how men are! They can live it up and party, but expect their wives to stay at home, playing the obedient role? I thought to myself
“And in a little over a month, we’ll be divorced. You don’t need to worry about it, right?” I smiled brightly, making light of my own situation.
I must have hit a nerve because Hayden slammed both hands on the desk, leaping to his feet. his eyes blazing with anger. “You’re messing around with Marlon, and now Dylan too. How many men are you seeing. Yvonnel”

Chapter 74
1 noticed the bloodshot veins in his eyes, a strange Dicker of disorientation creeping into me.
Hayden who was usually calm seemed especially quick to anger lately.
“Isn’t he supposed to be head over heels for Joanna? I wondered. They say people in love are always smiling, but why isn’t he like that? Oh, I guess it’s only when he’s around me that he’s this furious.
I couldn’t help but laugh softly. I should have known better. Hayden hated me. Of course, he wouldn’t show me a kind face
In that brief moment, Hayden had already stormed up to me, grabbing my shoulders tightly. “Tell me.”
1 felt like a lifeless doll, my eyes blank as I looked into his. ‘Do you care? Or is it just about your reputation as a man?”
Before he could answer, I continued with a cold smile, “Why would you care about any of this? Didn’t you practically push me into the arms of another man to be his date for Joanna!
“When the paparazzi get more photos of me with him, are you going to come and question me again?”
When Zachary had used me as a bet, Hayden had agreed right away, showing how little I meant to hum
honestly didn’t understand why, at this moment, he suddenly cared about his reputation.
They always said a woman’s heart was like the bottom of the ocean, but I was starting to think it was actually a man’s heart that was as deep and hard to understand.
Just as Hayden’s anger seemed to reach its peak, he suddenly calmed down.
His gaze softened, and for the first time, there was a hint of reluctance in his eyes
“If you win, then everything will be fine,” he said.
“If I win, then Joanna loses. Are you willing to accept that?” I said, looking at
thim with a sm
a smile
As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized Zachary had asked me something similar.
I really didn’t need to humiliate myself further.
