Layla had never seen me like this before, on edge and ready to snap. She was probably so used to my previous attempts to please her that the shock in her eyes seemed to multiply. “Yvonne, have you lost your mind?”

With that. I turned and walked away without

I heard Ethan’s footsteps following behind me, and slowly, my heart began to calm.

evening. Lucy and Yasir both showed up, and we met up by the beach to catch some breeze,
Lucy was glued to her phone, gasping repeatedly. “Oh my god, Yvonne, two thousand tickets are already gone? And there are still so many people who want them. What are we going to do? We should have sold them at a higher price!”

“That makes sense.” Lucy agreed. “But I heard he rarely goes to the cruise ship, and you just finished your livestream. He might be worried about going” Lucy rested her chin on her hand as she said.
While Lucy looked stressed, I was calm.
I glanced at Yosir, who w still frozen in shock, and smiled. “This is where you come in

“What thing?“Yasir asked, his curiosity piqued.
Lucy leaned in, eager to hear.
Under the dim streetlights, the three of us sat in an unusual harmony,
The waves lapped at the shore, as though they too were eager to listen to our conversation.
After hearing my plan. Yasir’s face went completely pale. “If I go tell him, he’ll kill me. Yvonne, you should do it yourself”

Hayden was only ever impatient with me. He probably didn’t even have the patience to hear the full story, let alone believe anything I said. This kind of thing had to come from someone else for it to hold any weight,
Lucy just stared at me, wide–eyed. “Oh my god, Yvonne, you’re really going all in, huh?”
“Otherwise, how am I supposed to make money!” I said, already caught up in the hustle. “And once the cruise ship entertainment updates are done, we’ll need to make sure the luxury stores are fully stocked.”
My mind was now consumed with making money. All the love, hate, and personal dramas seemed to have faded away.
“Are you still going to do the live stream?” Lucy asked.
“Of course.” I replied, my voice firm
Lucy blinked, surprised. I used to try to convince you to do it, and you wouldn’t. Now what’s changed?”
“People change, you know?” 1 answered, bus only half of the truth came out. Back then, Hayden didn’t like me getting involved in these things. And I wouldn’t do anything he didn’t like
But now, he meant nothing to me anymore.
Just as I finished that thought, I noticed a Bentley parked across the street, its headlights flashing in my direction.
I blinked in surprise, realizing it was Marlon’s car.
I was taken aback, wondering, “Why is he here?
Lucy seemed oblivious and didn’t rush me to speak. Instead, she sighed. “No matter what, if it’s what you want to do, I support you”
I snapped out of my thoughts, “Lucy, it’s getting late. Let Yasir take you home”
Yasir looked up at us, surprised.“Me“”
“What! You don’t want to Lucy rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed. She didn’t like Yasir much, always felt like he was one of Hayden’s spies.
Over the years, Lucy had witnessed how much I suffered because of Hayden. She hated everything and everyone connected to him, even if it wasn’t fair
“It’s not that…” Yasir said, clearing his throat. Then he looked at me again. “What about you, Yvonne!”
“Ethan’s with inc. Don’t need to worry.” I didn’t mention Marlon, hoping they wouldn’t start another argument.
Lury stood up. “Alright, Yvonne, take care of yourself. Head home early”
“Okay” I nodded, watching them leave
Not even a few minutes after they left. Marlon pushed open the door of his car and started walking toward me.
The night was dark, and he had a cigarette dangling from his mouth as he walked quickly toward me. Itis steps were fast and sure, almost like he was floating.
