“You’re still angry with me.”

I didn’t resist,
nor did I make a sound.
I stared at the ceiling with wide eyes, carefully counting the little stars on the wallpaper.
When I was left with only my underwear,
Dane finally stopped, looking at me quietly with tears in his
eyes.
I glanced at him listlessly:
“You weren’t wrong. I really am like a dead fish in bed.”
That casual remark completely broke Dane’s composure.
His face turned pale, wanting to explain but unable to find the words.
In the end, he forced a smile that looked worse than crying. “Melody, we can rebuild our relationship.
I can wait as long as it takes.”
I slowly put on my clothes and said softly:
“You know what?”
“Seeing all the scars on your body, I don’t feel the slightest bit of sympathy.”
“I only feel disgusted.”
Dane was stunned for a long time.
Whether he came to terms with it or not,
he finally got dressed and left, looking lost and dejected.
I, on the other hand, felt completely relieved, collapsing on the bed and sleeping until dawn.

I’ve had enough of living in hiding. From now on, he can do
whatever he wants.
From that day on, a new figure appeared outside my house. Dane was too ashamed to face me, yet unwilling to let me go.
He simply stood guard under my building every day, like the
neighborhood’s honorary security guard.At first, I felt a bit
uneasy, but after getting used to it, I just pretended he didn’t
exist.
Having someone watch my house for free saved me the cost of
surveillance cameras.
Rain or shine, when I woke up, I’d always see Dane standing outside my window,
and he’d leave after I turned off the lights.
He’d always leave a gift box in front of my door before he left. Sometimes it was the latest luxury brand jewelry,
other times it was some beautiful but impractical little toys.
