I looked up to survey my surroundings. Luckily there was only one building nearby, otherwise I wouldn’t have known where to go.
Before I could walk over, I felt a hand grip the back of my neck.
“You think you can kiss me and run?” The man’s voice was low and husky, his lips right next to my ear, his breath tickling me.
A tingling sensation suddenly spread throughout my body.
“…” I shrank back a bit, wanting to retreat and put some distance between us.
But as soon as I moved, he gripped me even tighter.
“You what?…” He was about to lean in closer to speak when he saw someone walking towards us.
He gave my neck a squeeze and said in a low voice, “I’ll settle the score with you later.”
Then he let go of me and looked up at the approaching person.
“I saw you from far away. What are you doing standing around out here? Feeding the mosquitoes? Come on in, we’ve been waiting for you.” The man tilted his head and stood on tiptoe to look at me.
“Hello, I’m Lily Evans.”
“Hi there, I’m Henry Shaw. You can call me Henry.”
After greeting me, Henry turned to Lucas and said with a wink, “I didn’t expect you to bring such a beautiful woman without saying anything. We thought you were single – Charles was going to set you up with someone.”

“No need. He can keep that for himself. You can call her sister–in–law.” Lucas said this without looking at Henry’s reaction, then took my hand
and walked away.
I tried to pull my hand away a bit. Who said he could hold my hand? And so tightly too.
But the corners of my mouth had already turned up in a smile, and my eyes glaring at him were full of laughter.
For some reason, being with him always gave me a strange sense of unfamiliar familiarity…
As soon as we entered the private room, I saw Emma clinging to a man’s side, giggling coquettishly.
That man wasn’t Jack.
How ironic.
Jack really should see this scene – see what the woman he loves is really like.
I let out a cold laugh.
He turned his head to look at me. “What’s wrong?”
I shook my head, indicating nothing was wrong.
“Ah, Mr. Gray is here. Please, have a seat.” The man next to Emma stood up with a big smile.
“No wonder Mr. Lee set up such an extravagant gathering. So it was because Mr. Gray was coming.”
“Haha, you flatter me. It’s Mr. Gray’s presence that brings honor to our humble gathering. How could I possibly put on such a grand event?” As he spoke, the man walked over with his arm around Emma.
When they got close, Emma saw me standing next to Lucas. She glared at me hatefully.
She probably hadn’t expected me to be able to come.
But she quickly plastered on a sweet smile and greeted my boss, practically pressing herself against him, making sure no one could miss her cleavage.
Mr. Lee next to her couldn’t take his eyes off her chest.
“Haha, I didn’t expect Mr. Gray to bring a date too. We’ve never seen you bring anyone before, so I thought you were single. That’s why I brought someone to introduce to you. Let me make the introductions.” As he spoke, Mr. Lee couldn’t resist grabbing Emma’s waist and copping a feel.
I clearly saw the disgust that flashed through Emma’s eyes.
So she did care after all.
How laughable that she would go to such lengths.
“As it happens, she went to the same high school as you. She’s your junior schoolmate – Emma White. Ring any bells? She was the campus beauty back then.”
My boss gave her a cold glance. “No.”
