“Your wife?” Jack shouted. “Says who, just you? Lily is mine, Lily is mine!”
He yelled louder and louder, becoming hysterical.
As he spoke, he tried to grab me from around Lucas, his nails leaving red marks on my fair arm.
Because my skin was so pale and delicate, the red marks looked especially gruesome.
Lucas turned to look and his demeanor suddenly changed. He instantly kicked Jack, sending him flying three meters.
“Get lost!”
My boss’s breathing was uneven, clearly still angry. As he raised his foot, about to go beat Jack up some more, I grabbed his arm and shook my head.
My boss’s whole body grew even colder. “You still care about him?”
“No, he’s not worth it.” My tone was indifferent. I no longer wasted any emotions on Jack.
Hearing me say this, my boss’s icy aura eased somewhat.
Jack struggled to get up, looking much calmer.
I walked over to him. “I’m already married. Stop looking for me.”
“I don’t believe it. How could it be… How could it happen so quickly?!”
I saw him starting to get agitated again and hesitated, wondering if my next words would upset him further.
I held back, restraining myself.

I spoke softly, trying not to provoke him. Just explaining clearly would be enough. “I’m not lying to you. There’s no reason for me to. I really am
married.”
With that, I took out my phone and showed him a photo of our marriage certificate that I had taken earlier.
Jack’s eyes widened in disbelief. He snatched the phone from my hand, muttering in a daze: “How could it happen so fast?!”
To be honest, I thought it was pretty fast too.

From when I approached Jack until now, my boss’s whole body had been radiating an icy aura. Even in the scorching sun, it felt like standing next to an air conditioner by his side.
Seeing me return, he finally eased up a bit.
He affectionately patted my head.
“Let’s go. Time for work.”
I obediently nodded and followed him, no longer paying any attention to the dejected Jack behind us.
Halfway there, my boss seemed to find my pace too slow. He wrapped an arm around my waist and suddenly picked me up.
Before I could cry out in surprise, he silenced me with a kiss.
My face instantly turned red. In broad daylight!
With my mouth blocked, I couldn’t speak. I could only make muffled sounds of protest.
Seeing my intense reaction, he released my lips. His eyes locked onto mine, the depths revealing insecurity as he said softly, “I was so scared. Scared you would leave and choose him over me.”
I was surprised he would think that way, that he lacked such confidence.
I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and gently pecked his lips, reassuring him, “Don’t worry, I won’t.”
He held me tighter, his pupils dark as he stared at me intently. I felt like I could drown in his eyes. He solemnly replied, “Okay.”
He carried me quickly to the car, put me inside, and let out a relieved sigh.
